Percent of vote the winner got will be in parenthesis, position change vs. 2020 will be in brackets.
Here's how this works:
Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll.
Simply voting is not enough!
Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 10 guys, a new player is added to the list each day).
Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

Funchess and Campbell for me again. I’ll take the vets over the unproven commodities and disappointments.
Cancelled by the forum elites.

How and why is sternberger getting votes right now? TE5???
Did you check out the other options?
I’m with you on these two with Royce Newman in the hole.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑09 Jul 2021 23:26Funchess and Campbell for me again. I’ll take the vets over the unproven commodities and disappointments.

I wasn't serious but what 8 guys do you think are better than Sterny?
third day with Campbell, 1st day with Dafney, Dequara will have to really impress the coaches to keep this kid on the bench, same with Sternberger, he might not even last out PS games before we ship him for a conditional draft pick.
Campbell and Dafney
next (unless someone changes my mind )
Funchess, Summers, Redmon, Newman, Jean-Charles, Sternberger.

TE#2.
So who do you have ranked higher? A 37 year old blocker? If you want another blocker, use an OT.
A 6'2" Fullback who can catch - good player but different position
Funchess? He is 20 pounds lighter with bad hands and the same speed and he is not a TE either
Who?
How and why is Funchess getting votes? He wasn't even on the team last season - by his own choice. He is on his 3rd team. In his last season, he broke his collarbone and the Colts elected to not bring him back from IR even though he was eligible and healthy.
Highest WR Drop Rates:
1. Devin Funchess: 13.9%
2. Laquon Treadwell: 13.2%
3. John Ross: 12.1%
4. Keelan Cole: 10.0%

Or maybe a 4.7 40 at the combine looks good to you.
Only used one vote this time, for DC. Ridiculous he’s still on this list.

we could have thrown to Lewis a lot more last year and picked up first down, instead Rodgers threw to ........ name any other receiver for more yrds, that doesn't mean Lewis wasn't able to be more productive in the passing game, and No OL man offers that, and it's debatable that our 6th OL man would be a more productive run blocker as well since Lewis is one of the best in the entire league at it.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑10 Jul 2021 10:54TE#2.

Sternberger has not impressed the coaches, not with route running or blocking, maybe that will change, but we have nothing to base that on at this time, what we do know is that Tonyan could take another leap, he improved with almost every game he played last year, and has great hands, Dafney on the other hand has impressed the coaches, at almost everything they asked him to do, typically that amounts to extra coaching simply because try hard guys like him soak it up and show positive results, so we'll see, Deguara, another 3rd round pick looked very good till hurt, thats the top 4, how many TE's, HB's do you think we'll carry, lis, Sternberger might be traded or cut unless he has improved.
I just don't know at this point. Campbell because everyone else says so. Newman because I think he has the most upside on the list.
I do know that I don't expect Funchess to make the team.

First of all, we have to stop calling our move TEs fullbacks. That's not their role--especially Deguara who MLF specifically clarified this about in pressers.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑10 Jul 2021 10:54TE#2.

But absolutely, Marcedes Lewis is TE2.
Last year, Tonyan played 60% of the snaps. Lewis played 40% of the snaps. Sternberger played 19% of the snaps.
Deguara (1 game), Lovett, and Dafney combined to play 14% of the snaps.
Sterny could still develop; he should improve. I am not trying to hate on him at all... it just seems like THIS YEAR, especially with Deguara healthy, Sternberger's role is "break glass in case of Tonyan injury" and not much more.

Campbell and Funchess are nearly locks to make the roster, given their contracts--especially Campbell. The team has a role in mind for them. I'm voting for locks who have a probable role that doesn't require an injury at this point. Guys who will see snaps even if someone in front of them doesn't force them onto the field by missing time.

Just was looking at some snap count stuff and I found something interesting that I dunno, maybe isn't all that interesting or maybe it is. It's been a long day
But anyway...
On offense last year, 14 players played at least 40% of the offensive snaps, and then the 15th-highest was all the way down at 19%
On defense last year, 17 players played at least 31% of the defensive snaps, and then the 18th-highest was all the way down at 18%
The fact that there are these big, steep dropoffs on each side of the ball at some point, and that on a 53-man roster, that dropoff only includes 31 people above it, sort of indicates what I'm looking for at this stage in these rankings. I'm looking for the guys who I think have the best chance to be above the cutoff line. I'm looking for 13-18 players on each side of the ball who will have a role that shows up in playing time.

I just pick them in reverse alphabetical order of their high school mascot name. Is that not the best way to rank these guys 33-53 ?YoHoChecko wrote: ↑10 Jul 2021 21:28sort of indicates what I'm looking for at this stage in these rankings.
IT. IS. TIME
Based on who is still available in the current poll, today:
Funchess
Newman
Summers
Redmond
Dafney
and probably:
Braden
Jean-Charles
Slaton
EQ
Sternberger is somewhere in that latter group for me.
