It's also a shame, though, because early in his run with us, MM was a good leader of men. I distinctly remember it. I think "nobody's underdog" really resonated. I think the team building activities resonated. Obviously, his QB school really helped. He developed Rodgers and he transformed Favre's late-career. And he got the team together, united.

He's just... old. He just doesn't connect anymore. What they said about the Austin Powers stuff and "mojo" really resonated. From 1999. Poor Mike. Both the game AND the connections to the players have passed him by.
agree

I think McCarthy was a damn good HC, a better HC then a offensive cord or play caller, he also was given credit for revitalizing Rich Gannons career from Rich himself.

I think he got tunnel vision as a play caller, and although he would say we needed to run to set up the pass, he wouldn't stick with the run when it was doing better then the pass, he could be so aggravating at times.

we blamed that on Rodgers, and no doubt some of that is true, but even Rodgers said we need to have a better run to pass ratio a few years back, granted having a HOF QB is what led to our success, but McCarthy also helped, second winningest coach in Packer History, takes more then just Rodgers to accomplish that.

I mean he looked legit.
I didn't watch. I am just anticipating because, you know, Chicago.

Let me ask you this. If it were up to you and the offer was on the table would you trade Love, straight up, for Fields, right now?
Right now yea I would take Fields. We will see what happens after tonight. Fields decision making though today looked really good. Gotta see him against better pressure though still.
Well crap. I had a feeling they might have something in Fields. I mean...they are due.

I watched the first half of the 2010 SB today and a few things popped out at me.

1. We actually did run the ball even with no RBs.

2. I was SHOCKED how much we attacked the middle of the field.

I must be getting desensitized to these deals. That doesn't even sound that bad.

He's a safety, so it's not huge like other deals. I'm betting it's not much more than a 2 year and let's see deal.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure why top safety salaries aren't higher.

I still remember Rod Tidwell's deal -- 4 for $12 million, I think. It was a bid deal back then.

Still not as big as Leon's league leading deal.

Aah. The era when the funny commercials came from beer companies rather than property and casualty insurance companies.

The money is not as far off as we think Yes, this is still a small signing by today's standards - but

8 million for 35 years at 6% (the real average inflation rate over the last 35 years) is 61 million.

Not the point, I guess, but.... what? how do you figure that? That is nothing like any figure I've ever seen. And that's definitely in my wheelhouse.

we hit 5% inflation once in the last 30 years and 4% once in that time frame too, typically it bounces between 2 and 3%

I'am glad our country's inflation rate doesn't coralate to these player contracts
