Packers releasing Kamal Martin
Can't believe it. I thought he would crack the 53.
Wisconsin Cheese Is Better Than California Cheese!
Very surprised. But the addition of Campbell and other changes made him expendable. I expected him to make a jump this pre-season, but he didn't.

What a fall from having a great 2020 camp getting injured and has been bad ever since.
Hopefully burks whom I wrote off 2 years ago can add that depth piece

Super disappointing. For someone where you could really see glimpses of brilliance, this is a big set back. I wonder if this was mutual and he wanted out after sitting on 3rd-team or the Packers just plain giving up. Makes me think it might be fairly mutual given that they did this a full day ahead of the deadline. Sucks.

Not surprised. He didn't show any improvement from last year.

Hard to with the injuries. Plus them trying to move him outside late, writing was on the wall. Hope he catches on somewhere, gets healthy and gets a chance though.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑23 Aug 2021 13:19Not surprised. He didn't show any improvement from last year.

Another back of the roster guy who's played some significant time, but easy to replace. Especially when a new DC comes to town.

Injuries, shminjuries! Clearly he didn't show anything inside or they wouldn't have bothered to move him outside.paco wrote: ↑23 Aug 2021 13:21Hard to with the injuries. 5th round pick with upside that didn't pan out and spent all of the offseason no better than LB5; this only surprises because some people refused to hear it when he was playing behind Summers and Barnes and Burks all summer, before Campbell was even signed.
Though I think rookie contracts put on IR before final cutdowns are released and pass through waivers first; so it still may be an IR situation, depending on what details are out. Either way, no sweat off anyone's back.

I agree the injuries thing is a bit overrated.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑23 Aug 2021 13:29Injuries, shminjuries! The only thing we know of Martin is tweets he looked good in camp in 2020. He was terrible in games last year. Terrible.
It is absolutely too bad. I still think we carry 5 ILBs (Barnes, Campbell, Summers, Burks, McDuffs)
But this is a reminder that TC impressions don't mean a whole lot. Kamal Martin was BY FAR the best rookie in camp last year.
RIP JustJeff
I guess I didnt think Kamal was too terrible in games last year for a rookie, yet the coaches did i guess. Always thought he was better than Burks or Summers by a lot. Wonder if he was acting like a t***. He seemed to have too much potential to be cuttable at this point.

I’m surprised they made this move already so early in his career. That’s a quick 2 down in Guteys 2020 draft.
Cancelled by the forum elites.
But early signs of his 2021 draft....whoah.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑23 Aug 2021 13:51I’m surprised they made this move already so early in his career. That’s a quick 2 down in Guteys 2020 draft.
Gutey doesn't seem to be afraid to cut bait on his picks that don't work out. Some GMs hold on too long.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑23 Aug 2021 13:51I’m surprised they made this move already so early in his career. That’s a quick 2 down in Guteys 2020 draft.

Yeah quite early, like very early, but chance for immediate impact this year is maybe the best I can remember since prolly Watthews and Raji, maybe more.go pak go wrote: ↑23 Aug 2021 13:59But early signs of his 2021 draft....whoah.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑23 Aug 2021 13:51I’m surprised they made this move already so early in his career. A 5th rounder and 6th rounder from the 2020 NFL draft are no longer on the team. Not sure why that is noteworthy.
