good point, this bodes well for our OL, we aren't even in mid season form yet, we've done so much shuffling, I love a great run blocking group and these two guards play with some nasty to them same with Myers, never stop till the whistle

Pretty spooky Lafleur had to tell him that. Also might show the relationship is off to a rocky start that Lafleur is publically saying he had to tell him that.

What worries me most is that we were told that aggressiveness would be the change from the new DC. In 2 games we have not seen that. It looks like he may be a smooth talker, but doesn't bring much substance. Kind of like the McCarthy of defense. This defense is too talented to play like they did the first 3 halves of the season. Time to use the momentum from the last half and take it to the 49ers!

I think Campbell can cover average TE's and slower RB's in zone, but manning him up on a talented TE like Hockenson showed it was a mis match, heck his interception was great however Goef threw it right to him, we need to go back to the hybrid safety on TE's like him, either of Amos or Savage might have defended that TD better.
Barry just seems like a rah rah position coach to me, any fool could see we where not disrupting Goef at all with 4 rushers, he better get his act together we have some tough opponents coming up.

I don't worry about this part so much. It's LaFleur's job to tell his coordinators what to do sometimes. I'll look at it as a positive that he's feeling more comfortable with figuring out the defense. I saw reference that Tomlin get praise for doing this all the time (he doesn't call the off or def for Pitt).
Sure you don't want it to have to happen, but as long as it gets positive results, I'm fine.

I actually though Campbell covered that very well. I think Stokes deserves the minus grade on that the most as he was in zone and should provide the back of the endzone protection but didn't recognize soon enough. It was really weird not seeing Eric act on that play actually. He has the speed to break that up.Yoop wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021 09:28I think Campbell can cover average TE's and slower RB's in zone, but manning him up on a talented TE like Hockenson showed it was a mis match, heck his interception was great however Goef threw it right to him, we need to go back to the hybrid safety on TE's like him, either of Amos or Savage might have defended that TD better.
I mean, the TD to Hockenson... they earned it. Tip your cap to Goff and Hock and the Lions. I'll take the coverage on that play any time.go pak go wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021 10:17I actually though Campbell covered that very well. There is not a soul alive or dead that could have defended that from that position. The only way that particular play could have been defended is with a defender over the top, but then you give it up underneath. That was an un-defendable pass.NCF wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021 10:22I mean, the TD to Hockenson... they earned it. Tip your cap to Goff and Hock and the Lions. Stokes correctly gave up his WR to Amos which allowed Stokes to really have nobody in his zone. Campbell was already trailing Hock. I guess I don't understand why Stokes didn't race to the back of the EZ once he saw the ball was in the air to at least make it more challening.Pckfn23 wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021 10:36There is not a soul alive or dead that could have defended that from that position. I agree it was a great pass. I just thought Stokes could have done something further.

By the time it sorted out Hockenson was already deeper than Stokes. He may have been able to influence it, if he committed.go pak go wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021 10:56Stokes correctly gave up his WR to Amos which allowed Stokes to really have nobody in his zone. That would certainly explain why he keeps getting hired despite poor results!

I couldn't help but notice the Packers' TE-screen to Tonyan that got a first down. It reminded me of how the Chiefs use Kelce. Obviously Tonyan isn't on that level, but it was interesting.

Looked basically like the same screen the Saints used last week on us on 4th down.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021 12:46I couldn't help but notice the Packers' TE-screen to Tonyan that got a first down. Or copying what Sean Peyton did to us from week 1?Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021 12:46I couldn't help but notice the Packers' TE-screen to Tonyan that got a first down. It reminded me of how the Chiefs use Kelce. Obviously Tonyan isn't on that level, but it was interesting.
