Jordan Love can make watching the Packers fun again!

Post by abishopd »

Sorry for my first post in a WHILE! Been reading a bunch and thanks for all the great content! Let me just say I did not scout any of the QB's in depth because I didnt think there was a chance we would take one, esp one in the first round. My ideal picks were ILB Murray, RT Wilson or WR Jefferson. Murray & Jefferson were long gone and Wilson went 29. After initially being frustrated with the Love pick, I decided to wait till I watched his game film.

I watched about 9 games and let me tell you he had me on the edge of my seat. I've felt over the last 3 years watching Rodgers and the Pack offense has been frustrating more than "fun". It just feels like people are not on the same page & Rodgers performance & body language have not been good. Even in the wins it does not feel like it should. Don't get me wrong there have been highs but the majority of games I am more excited to watch our defense than our offense.

Watching Jordan Love you can tell immediately he has the fire for the game. He is great at avoiding sacks and can make any throw. His arm is elite and he makes Favre/Rodgers like throws. He elevates the players around him and is able to put the ball in places to make them successful.

It feels a bit like watching Favre. We do not know if Love will be the next Pat Mahomes or the next Jay Cutler. But one thing we do know is he is a playmaker, loves the game & will make watching Packers offensive football fun again.

Hey bish. That's a great way to "introduce" yourself to this new site.
:-)

Your point reminds me to compare. Does Love = Favre at this point?
- arm strength to throw anyplace on the field
- able to throw off platform
- can avoid pressure (yet doesn't look to run first)
- needs to be educated to the NFL level and will make errors, but it's clear that he'll also make plays that nobody else can

As much as Holmgren had some regrets in starting Favre, he saw a kid who overcomes his mistakes (with the exception of a few 5-INT games here and there). And Favre became a HOFer. Too early to tell for Love. But this kid has pretty much the same things that Ron Wolf saw a generation ago in Favre. He inspires.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

Welcome back bish.

Hey, if he turns out like Cutler and we trade him for 2 firsts, a 3rd and a backup QB it will have been a great pick.

:)

I just can't wait to go watch Love practice, year after year after year after year, then we pick up the 5th year and I get to watch him practice that summer again, Rodgers retires, Love is given a1 yr prove it deal, and Love proves he was a very good practicer, we go 6-10, draft slot 12, and pick up the best WR in the class, Guty wants to help his QB .......

Welcome back old friend, post more, I have always enjoyed your stuff!

And agreed, he is entertaining. I was just saying to a buddy yesterday that I am hoping we have a normal training camp, etc, because I cannot wait to get out and see him. Things will be great, for another 15 years!

I agree with your post, especially the bolded portion. I think most people have felt the same way about the offense over the past few seasons. Efficiency has been lacking. It's felt like either "big play" or nothing for too long.

At the absolute very very least ............... having Love under center will make watching preseason games interesting again. Very much looking forward to it. If someone buys me a Love jersey I'll wear it ..... I don't buy jerseys anymore. If Rodgers starts to act up then maybe Packers fans should organize some sort of a demonstration around Lambeau Field ........... all wearing Jordan Love jerseys .... call it the MARCH OF LOVE.

GO PACK GO !! :thwap:

Well yeah. Rodgers has his top 5 WR. It would only be fair if Love has his by that time too huh?

Last night I watched most of first half of the Packers-Vikings Monday Night Football game from the 2009 season - Favre vs. the Packers rerun. I must admit that Rodgers' receiver corp was much much better in 2009-2010 than what he had to work with in 2019. Jermichael Finley was such an amazing weapon along the Driver and Jennings. The 5 wide set had Jones and Jordy. All 5 of those guys were NFL quality receivers. Big difference I think.
