As someone else said at some point:

I wish the team would gameplan as if they were playing a top defensive front and anticipated not being able to pass protect for every game. The game plan was beautiful. This is how the offense should look. The number of ways they impacted Bosa to help Nijmen was wonderful. The quick passes were ideal. I bet no fewer than 5 players other than the LT at some point blocked or chipped Bosa. Tonyan got a bunch, Aaron Jones got one or two in. I'm sure Lewis was involved.

I mean literally. What else is he supposed to do?

How do you call a Roughing call when the defender doesn't even take the QB to the ground? If that isn't "pulling up" what the hell is?
I assumed he had hit the helmet because he sorta went high. In real time I thought a flag was going to come because he was in the air moving toward the QB's head as the camera followed the ball away. But then I saw the replay... no blow to the head. Absolutely no way that should be called without contact to the head. I have no idea how it was called otherwise.
I don't think it should have been called, but I'm not surprised either. He was "late" enough by the rule and he was high.
Jaire left hand strikes back of helmet. Right arm makes contact with neck area.
Neck is part of the head for penalty purposes.
I don’t like these touchy calls but have seen just as bad and worse called.
Other game penalties. There is a legit beef about

This needs reposting.

Remember earlier in the game they were showing Bosa starting straight down the LOS at the ball, not looking at LT/TE or anything.

Thus doesn't see the motion coming in.

Great job by the coaching staff there.

Now that some can come back off the ledge what a team effort win. They played together and showed emotion. They wanted this one. ML came up with a great game plan and the d is improving each week. Its not perfect but the needle is pointing in the right direction.

I hate they..... And the refs :swear:. Let the 9ers back in the game but I'll take the W.

On to a bad steelers team. I'm hoping for 6 sacks

Yosh Nijman was left to protect Rodgers’ blindside with star left tackle David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins out with injuries. Nijman, a 2019 undrafted free agent, entered the game with only one career pass-block rep to his name. And to no surprise, he felt the wrath of Nick Bosa. On first review of the game film, Nijman earned the second-worst single-game PFF grade by a Packers left tackle in the last five years.
Well which is it PFF?

That first drive he got absolutely destroyed. After that he was ok, even when not getting help.

which is it Jake Morley, least he could do to buck up his credibility would be to get our G positions right.

This seems to me to be because when Rodgers sees man coverage he just takes a snap and heaves it and hopes it works. It's not usually where he watches the routes and makes a decision and sees his guy win and times the throw in stride. It's "ball-in-hand, ball-out" anticipation of a receiver winning a battle. I wish that we had better man-beating hot reads. It KILLED me in Rodgers' presser when he said that the bad throw to Davante in the red zone late, Rodgers allegedly said "You want a slant?" and Adams said "no I want a fade." Like, WHY? That slant converts the third and gets you a first and goal even if they make the tackle. Adams has a release that can eat good CBs for lunch, let alone an overmatched rookie.

But because Rodgers is just doing a "I got man coverage" sideline loft (not just to Adams but MVS a lot as well) the throws look "inaccurate" because there's not even an attempt at a read or timing up the throw. It's just "I'll throw to a spot and hope he can beat his guy quickly enough to get there"

To me this is on Rodgers, but it's up to MLF to tell Rodgers to change it up and do better.

... Late in the little jimmy threw a lateral to Deebo that went over his head and out of bounds, quickly called an incomplete pass. Im going to watch the replay on that today because Im pretty sure that was a lateral. ...
It was absolutely a lateral. I was praying that the ball would stay in bounds and Campbell would hustle over there.

Not saying I've watched much, but the 49ers had a shootout with the Lions (first half good, second half bad) team we just blew out (first half bad, second half good) and then barely held on against the rebuilding Eagles.

So this should be a decently evenly matched game even considering my lowered assessment of our team based upon watching the first two weeks. The boogie man aspect of the 49ers is still based on years-old fan trauma

If Jenkins can't go, it's hard to imagine our OL holding up against their front 7, but again, there should be schematic answers. Whether MLF dials them up and whether Rodgers sticks with it remains to be seen. But I certainly expect our O to do better against the 49ers than the Eagles last week (only 11 points) and for our D to do better against them than the Lions (41 points).

So there's a big, broad middle ground in there where we can win or lose in there.

The OL got plenty of help, both from extra people chipping in, from the playcalling that didn't exactly ask them to hold on for 7 step drops and from AR getting rid of it quick.

But.

The winning drive. Needing chunks of yards, deep patterns taking time to develop, pass rushers with ears pinned back, a sack would end it... the OL came through. That was incredible. :woohoo:

I am more of the mindset that it was the Packers who elevated their game than it was the 2019 49ers falling to earth. We just played the 9ers so bad in 2019. Looked like MLF learned his lesson and our defense contained the edge on the running plays. And that was my standpoint. I simply didn't have faith the Packers would bring it against a physical team and they finally did on the road in a prime time game.

Honestly the SF receivers made some amazing plays and their front 7 still played well. It's just that we stuck with the run and got the ball out immediately.

Only dings I have is I wish we stood up better in the redzone on 3rd and long with that 1st drive in the 3rd quarter on defense and I thought Rodgers could have/should have done better in the 4th quarter after the defense gave him the ball back. Fortunately he totally redeemed himself on the final 37 seconds.

But this 9ers defense is pretty close personnel wise to the 2019 defense. Swap Kinlaw for Buckner and Norman for Sherman. And our Oline was worse on paper.

I was just so proud of the Packers. Next up is they need Rashan Gary to make more of an impact on a consistent basis. It was good to see him start to flash in the 4th quarter. I still hate that Stokes DPI call so much. That should have been the drive that Gary and Stokes built.

I wonder if Deguara will work into more of a prominent role or if what we are seeing now is how they want him to be used.
