I am surprised we didn't make a play at Sherman and Gilmore ... Did we have cap issues if we got them?
Basically what I am gathering about the Gilmore situation is the Packers were interested last spring when the Pats said they were gonna cut him and were interested this fall when the Pats said they were gonna cut him. It sounds like the Packers were the most "vocal" on going after him.
It also sounds like Gilmore really only had one location in mind - Charlotte. It's his home.
So the agent and the Pats both really wanted two things:
1. Agent wants Gilmore to be a Panther
2. Patriots want to get anything for Gilmore.
Hence the "leaks" and "rumors" start coming out the Packers REALLLY wanted Gilmore - which was true. What I think the agent leaked that was false was that Gilmore wanted to go GB or I think it was phrased "GB is the most likely landing spot based on what we know now" this in turn motivated CAR to get it done. Better to give up a late 6th than get in a bidding war.
I mean a 2023 6th rounder was used to trade for the 2019 DPY. You only see that when this stuff was already pre-orchestrated.
Where GB screwed up is we couldn't get a guy like Casey Heyward for $2.5 Million and instead paid double that for Kevin King.
What is the latest here? I haven't heard anything in a while.
AC joint appears to be healing, not sure to what extent yet, but enough to put off surgery for now. But still not ruling out surgery.
Yep. Good news. Bad news. It does sound like there is a drop dead date, but LaFleur wouldn't clarify. To me, it sounds like at that point they will know he is on the verge of playing in short order and if not, surgery and out for the season.
