FYI, Vikings fan base is the most fair weather in the NFL.
They definitely go through "avid fan" to "not a fan at all" mighty quick.

I would say Cincy is less supportive, but they also don't get as high as the Vikings do when they are good. (hence the fair weather label)

MN fans get awful gabby when they start the season 4-2.
Was in Packer/Bear territory for 20 years and been in Packer/Viking territory for 20 years. Vikings fans as a whole ate the worst. They are so cocky when they are winning and completely negligent when they are losing.
Yup. Too bad you weren't around for the glory days of the Packers in the 70's and 80's. It's amazing how many Packer fans you couldn't find outside of Green Bay.

Lets assume this is true, the 70s and 80s were 40 and 50 years ago. I believe the statutes of limitations has expired on these alleged crimes!

I have no understanding of rooting for a division rival that is within two games of us, that we still have to play twice, while we still have half the season to play to let the overall conference standings shakeout.
I feel this and tend to agree, but I'm split. Playing MN twice has big downside, but it also makes them significantly "within our control." I think people big on controlling your own destiny will root for the Vikings tonight; and those who are more generally risk averse will root for the Cowboys.

I will root for an earthquake.

Mind if I quote you the next time a Packer fan brings up my team's 4 Super Bowl losses?

Oh you can absolutely use the statute of limitations on your Super Bowl losses. Then tell them about the Super Bowl wins that y'all have within the relevant time period. I'm sure this won't help

Win a one or two and no one counts the losses anymore. It's that simple. (Well, not really, they still have to win one or two.) No one talked about Denver's 4 losses anymore after winning one. Don't think they talked about them much before they won their first.

That is simply NOT true! I was around during those years (and before) and Packers fans were in abundance no matter where I was. Please don't try to do some revisionist history here simply because you are discussing Viking fans with someone. For what it's worth, the Bear fans are the most fair weather bandwagon fans I have ever lived around.

Another similarity between the Packers and Saints this week is the performances of our QBs, as Aaron Rodgers and Trevor Simien both battled through team injuries with a gutty, gritty, mistake-free performance that doesn't show up on the stat sheet (50s completion percentage, 5s yards per attempt, under 200 yards, no INTs), but effectively managed the offense well enough to get a win versus a top 5 D, spreading the ball around to RBs and TEs while no WR had more than 3 catches.

For what it's worth, I lived in Sheboygan throughout the 70's/80's and I can attest everybody I associated with was an avid Packer fan. Does Sheboygan count as outside of Green Bay?

No. Way to close. I'm talking about other states. Anything within 100 miles is well within Packer country. After all, back then they were still playing in Milwaukee to please their fans. But I can tell you this, in other states I lived in, Packers fans were not heard from on Sundays.

seriously you have got to be under the influence :thwap: no matter where you'd go a Packer fan is near by, and it's been like this for all of my life, as a kid I visited family in Chicago, Indiana, Kentucky, obviously the U P, every where I went there where Packer fans, Canada too,

I can just imagine all the Viking fans down there in Florida :rotf:

There are 3 or 4 in my retirement community alone. They can be real snarky whenever the Packers play their team. Jealousy does that to some people. 8-)

During those years I lived in the Chicago area, Kentucky, Utah and Madison, Wisconsin (where I now live). I spent two separate stints in Chicago and it was awful, but there were Packer bars there where I was able to find some sanity and solace. In 1985-88 I was a teacher/coach in Aurora, IL and the Bear fans were truly insufferable, including many of my students. The other areas actually had as many Packer fans as any other fans.
