From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Of course Rodgers likes the conversations. Rodgers has been given god privileges. He gets to make moves and so far hes got a 100% success rate.
Every time Rodgers walks in a room with Gutey, Gutey knows he becomes the beta.
It's no wonder I haven't seen you on these forums today being overly critical of Gute for not making the Evan Engram/Fletcher Cox/Brandon Cooks trades happen. It's no longer a Gute failure, it'd be a Rodgers failure. And we all know with you, that dog don't hunt!

Cox and Cooks would have cost too much in terms of compensation and cap. Engram is a bum. We have the team that we have. We cant go backwards. Time marches on. We cannot go back and tell Gutey he was a moron for taking a backup QB with his 1st and 4th picks in the moment. We just have to do that now while being stuck with his mistakes.

General manager Rodgers was correct to not bring in Cox, Cooks, or Engram. I would feel different if ex GM Gutey had not brought those guys in, but after a perfect start to his tenure as GM with bringing in Cobb...I give GM Rodgers benefit of the doubt and assume he made a great decision.
So if Benkert and Rodgers are both no goes, who else do we add as #2, maybe even add a #3 QB?
Bortles is the first guy that comes to mind. He at least has veteran experience and experience with Hackett. Makes more sense than that camp arm we had.

Dolegala beat out Bortles. I'd rather have him as backup.
And how much would the line change for all other teams when their #1 QB is ruled out and the backup hasn't played?
The line swung 5-6 points when Dak was all but ruled out last week.
Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."

Yeah, we have a ton of evidence just this past week, don't we? Lots of backup QBs getting time this year. I guess the Saints happened in game and the Jets was known in advance.
Dolegala may have beaten Bortles out in camp, but I think a safe vet presence on the sidelines makes a lotta sense in this exact situation.
I'm not sure I would classify Bortles as "safe vet presence". Guy seems like a putz to me. But in any case, I understand it. Let's hope Benkert can get cleared and he's the backup with Bortles as #3.
I’d consider signing a 3rd qb. We have the roster spots, need an extra arm for scout team. Just feel like so often you see a backup get hurt at QB. Not feeling the OL, on the road, snap counts not in sync, I’m sure Love will be taking a few shots on Sunday.
Then same applies to Bortles. We can still definitely win this game with how our D is doing. Hate to throw that chance away because we have to run the wild cat with Cobb on a game winning 2 minute final drive.
