I think you are correct here.NCF wrote: ↑10 Nov 2021 13:50That tweet seems like 4.25 is the offset and 3 million was actually given up by OBJ (maybe he agreed to give that up so he would be released). So teams would have to pay above 4.25 for him to make any additional money. Not sure many will be willing and thus minimum is just as good as any other number all the way up to 4.25. That is how I am reading that.Pckfn23 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2021 13:44Ya, I have no idea what how this actually works. If that is the case (what OBJ makes from new team means Browns pay that much less to him), then there is absolutely no reason for any team to pay him more than league minimum. It seems weird though. I wonder if $3 million is the offset and OBJ would need more than $3 million to see a pay raise for the year...?

So if all this "offset" stuff is true,

That's the problem right?!BF004 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2021 13:57PRobably someone in a FO somewhere reading over this and just thinking, what in the holy &%$@ are these talking about?go pak go wrote: ↑10 Nov 2021 13:52I think you are correct here.NCF wrote: ↑10 Nov 2021 13:50

We don't see the contracts! So much of what we are reeling about today is based on information we know nothing about.
safe bet was always that little massey was full of sh*t to begin with. I assume they always are until they prove to me otherwise.

So if offset language is true and OBJ signs with another team for veteran minimum, then OBJ chose to sign with that other team and there wasn't anything the Packers could do about it other than offer him more than $4.25 million.

I don't know if we even have more than 4.25m
If that is offset amount and we don't have breathing space above it than no point going above vet min.
It's in God's hands now.

Surprised he went that far. That's pretty promising language to say publicly.
And this lawyery detective work is literally his gig.

what is the off set language again????? and where did the 4. plus mil. come from? if Beckham doesn't sign with us then we didn't present our case for him to, well enough, this talk of money still imo doesn't have very much to do with this, Odell is looking at scheme fit, targets per game, how he'll get along in the locker room, stuff like that, this money talk just seems like it would be used as a excuse to defend our FO in case this falls through, as so many deals like this have in the past.
the suspense is driving us all wild.

Most likely the money is irrelevant. That's what this page and the last page are talking about.Yoop wrote: ↑10 Nov 2021 14:30what is the off set language again????? and where did the 4. plus mil. come from? if Beckham doesn't sign with us then we didn't present our case for him to, well enough, this talk of money still imo doesn't have very much to do with this, Odell is looking at scheme fit, targets per game, how he'll get along in the locker room, stuff like that, this money talk just seems like it would be used as a excuse to defend our FO in case this falls through, as so many deals like this have in the past.

im pretty low key on this. If it happens you can def say I am intrigued. If it doesnt, I will just remember Odell has pretty much sucked the last few years and be cool.
