The Chiefs defense actually looks good and is really effective at rushing the passer the past month.

They are doing to every QB what they did to Love.

Being 5-7 and “in the hunt” is a total joke
I know. This is the new league with 17 games and 7 playoff teams.

On the flipside, though the 7 seed is a 7-5 team, the #1 seed is an 8-4 team.
Regardless of the playoff format (6 or 7 teams) these teams would still be in the hunt because we have 5 weeks left to play.

Loving that the Lions finally won and it came against the Queens. Is there a more fitting opponent to lose to the winless Lions?

Small sample stats be damned, I knew that was a talented d when we faced them with love, particularly in KC. Despite their early season struggles.

Now I feel like history will show a d like that will let you down in January when it matters, but they can turn it on in for given week or two. Just not consistently for a month against top teams.

Hey! My Vikings are the best 5-7 team in the NFC! Don't you forget that. :rotf:

Yeah they are starting to string something together on defense.

In their last 5 games, the Chiefs have allowed 17, 7, 14, 9, and 9. They are allowing 11 points per game on average.

He's an odd one and sometimes he makes me scratch my head in wonderment, but I'm having a hard time not liking Dan Campbell.

Yeah one thing is clear about the Lions. It really does seem their players love their coach. They fight hard for him.

AFC gunna be really fun to watch play out.

Patriots your #1 seed at 8-4. All 4 divisions have an 8-4 team (NE, Ten, Bal, KC).

NE plays tonight against 7-4 Buffalo, then you got the Chargers and Bengals at 7-5, then even the Steelers at 6-5-1 and Indy at 7-6.

NE and Indy has their bye next week.

Even LV, CLE and Denver at 6-6 are the current 10-12 seeds.

Miami still in the hunt too at 6-7.

Still entirely possible a team not in the current playoff picture can get the #1 seed in the AFC.

Some interesting things on the AFC Side from a Packers fan perspective:

1. Buffalo has Tampa this week and a big game tonight for the division. Will Buffalo be gassed after tonight's game to play Tampa? Also every game right now for Buffalo is huge for the division.

2. Indy still plays Arizona. Indy is in a position where they are pretty much in must win mode each week to stay in contention.

3. Denver is showing they are starting to build a nice little team over there and could be in position to want Aaron Rodgers and pay dearly for it. It is probably in our best position for them to feel like they are a QB and potentially Adams away from feeling they are contenders yet not make the postseason so the draft picks they offer us are closer to that top 15 rather than top 20 range.

If the Lions can hold the team together and not fire the coach, I think they will be a winning team next year. Well, if they find a new QB. Goff to me will not take them anywhere. Zimmer's biggest mistake yesterday was not pressuring him on that last drive. Goff doesn't do well under pressure.

Yeah high level the Lions look like a team that is building good things. But their QB is just so bad and the Lions are married to him for 2022 ($30 million dead cap if they cut him) and still need to eat $10 million if they cut him in 2023.

The Lions also need to massively improve on defense.

I like the Lions Oline. I like their RBs. I like their TE. They should probably try and sign a WR this free agency. But yeah. Drafting a QB and more playmakers in the 22 and 23 drafts could turn this team into a winner.

Their Jeff Okudah injury was killer. He sucked as a rookie and misses his entire 2nd year. Usually these movies don't end well and that will set them back.

Vikings fans/media are hilarious. Their Super Bowl was literally 15 days ago. "We beat Green bay. We can beat anyone!"

Considering they have 4 1st round picks in the next 2 years, they could become a force in the near future. Keyword, "could". The draft is a crapshoot. And nothing says they couldn't trade Goff down the road. Although I don't know who would trade for him.

I mean this probably isn't the draft class to find your QB of the future, so the management of the Lions probably has to take a longer-than-next-season view of the team building.

That allows them to get building blocks this year, maybe take a day 2 QB to develop as a backup behind Goff and hope it pans out, but also knowing they have 2 1st round picks in 2023 to use to get the right QB. That allows Goff to either be a couple-year bridge.

They may get a top-flight pass-rusher at the 1-spot this year (Hutchinson or Thibodeaux), maybe swing at a mid-level QB like Sam Howell maybe Desmond Ridder or whoever is left standing at the top of round 3. Get two quality picks with the 33rd pick and the Rams' first--likely including a secondary piece in there. Some good off-ball LBs in that general range as well. Could theoretically improve their D with a pick at every level in the top 33 and then get a reasonable QB to audition for the role of future starter without as much pressure to be The Right Guy knowing they have another year to find him.

I don't know, I still don't see any real reason for hope yet. Other than they have a few first round picks now.

Not a good looking QB class this year when they'll have a really nice pick. Take another Goff or Wentz or Mariotta or Winston and they'll be right where they always have been the last 20 years.

They really need a LOT of pieces. Like who on their team would start in GB? Their TE, least important position in football. Frank Ragnow over Josh Myers. Maybe Michael Brockers over Lowry, but that is kind of a push with Dean playing decent and sounding like Brockers not so much.

I mean, that is really it. Am I missing anyone? Like they pretty much need a brand new team top to bottom including QB and frankly their coach kind of seems like a dufus, guessing he won't make it to year 4 of his contract, partly determined by that they doubtfully will be able to get a competent roster by then.

I wouldn't describe that whole transaction as the Lions 'trading for' Jared Goff. Pretty sure the Lions got additional compensation for taking Goff off the Rams hands.
