...like really, REALLY awesome!
That was some of the best 15 minutes of production I have ever seen.

I always loved Campy. I didn't know I needed to love him THAT much. Holy crap.

Remember when our red zone D was so atrocious beginning of the year?

Still not good, but now closer to average than historically bad.

Let’s hope it never comes to that.

I feel like a guy like Lazard may could do it. Don’t expect him to break away on the return, but I bet he could field it and then truck somebody if he had any space.

Lazard isn't a very good hands-catcher, sadly.

I am wondering if Shemar Jean-Charles would be up for it -- gotta make use of him somehow, at least.

I feel like I’ve seen a lot of guys who don’t have great hands catching passes be able t field punts. It’s almost like it’s more about mentality than “ability to catch a punt”. Like in high school football, we had lots of guys who could catch the punt. But few could make the right decisions in terms of do i let this ball go, do I call fair catch, do I try to return it. As well as the factors of “everyone’s looking at me”, “the lights are all on me in this moment”.

I think it goes well beyond ability to catch the ball falling from the sky. In my opinion, amari can do that 99% of the time at practice. Lazard could too. It’s the other factors of the big moment that are causing Amari to crumble.

Kind of like Mike Prior back in the day. You were happy with a 10 yard return but never actually worried about fumbles.

I always felt that way about Micah Hyde or Tramon when they would do it. Didn't expect anything spectacular but also didn't fear big blunders.

All I really want it for someone to just catch every punt outside of the 10 yardline. Just never let it hit the ground and roll for 10-15 yards. One of the biggest wastes on the field. Charles Woodson did that, just caught everyone.

Speaking of Mike Prior, I would actually be for putting 2 returners back to accomplish what I said above.

But then you'd be sacrificing the punt rush strategy and all those blocked punts.

Oh wait...

So..thoughts on a Lazard type being able to accomplish this goal?

I know he has some drops, but I dont really think the skill of catching a punt is the same skill as catching a pass from Rodgers.

I also think majority of Lazards catches are a higher average degree of difficulty than other WRs degree of difficulty for a catch due to his lack of ability to separate unless he is schemed open. IE: He has to make more contested catches than others.

These factors that have encouraged him to drop balls as a WR would not be a factor catching punts.

I have always been a huge fan of the 2-returner option and don't understand why it isn't done. Gives you a lead clocker, covers more field, allows two sets of eyes on the return outlook assuming you wind up with two guys who communicate and work well in tandem together. It never made sense to me that it isn't done.
