They could certainly not see the full picture...like our salary cap and etc. But i think they have more that 0 incite. They dont just watch him from the booth on Sundays. They had a lengthy meeting with him and their discussion sprung from impressions they walked away with after that meeting.

I know what they mean is that after things come out--both when he returned to the team and then with the covid stuff, he speaks very plainly and openly and transparently in a way that feels refreshing.

But determining that that indicates he's being the most honest or that you can get a realistic feel for his inner workings based on that staged, limited time around him... seems like a stretch to people

The national media went in on Rodgers' dishonesty two weeks ago and then like it never happened, we have a broadcast crew touting his honesty and the "feel" they got from speaking to him. I dont disagree it was out of place. In the game thread, right after they stumbled through that convo and then collinsworth mentioned about how “field goals were a touchy subject in Green Bay,” i commented that the diatribe was awkward and asked if Collinsworth thinks he is at a bar.

That said, I think Rodgers was happy last year. I think things blew up because Brady beat him and he lost once again in an NFCCG. I think he saw all the new toys brought in for Brady and Rodgers felt he was treated like “the player” and it was costing his legacy. I also think things blew up because he won MVP and the team wouldn’t give him the long term security he expected. I think those two factors, led to the off-season pissing contest.

I certainly think Rodgers had issues with the organization that bothered him and had been simmering - hell, we all do within our own employment spheres - but not to the point of blowing it all up. It's hard not to read into how he responded to that question. The pause, the look on his face, and the non-committal response. Doesn't mean you are wrong. Rodgers tends to take simple things and make them more complex than he needs to. Sometimes, its just a game to him I think.

Regardless, some of the media will run with it. Especially when the talk the last few weeks had started to drift the other direction.

I've always been of the mindset that he's gone after this year. For several reasons. This doesn't change my mind or reinforce it really.

The Steelers, WFT, NYG, Jets, Broncos, 49ers and Indy probably will be in the market this offseason. I doubt he'd want to go to either of the NY teams but the others might interest him. I suspect Gute would do what TT did if Rodgers is traded and would to send him to the AFC. The big question is can any of these teams afford his contract? I for one do not want him to go anywhere. From a cap perspective, 1 more year is nearly impossible. To pay Rodgers 40 million would mean the Packers have to gut the team. They would go 2-15 after cutting or letting so many players walk.
