Packers Clinch the NFC North
I know this has been discussed, but I do think checking this accomplishment off the list is worth its own thread.
ESPECIALLY because we're not only the first team to clinch, we are the ONLY team to have clinched even a playoff berth.
Unless the Eagles and WFT tie Tuesday night, it sounds like this week will end with the Packers as the only sure thing, mathematically confirmed, clinched postseason.
MLF, with a win Saturday against the Browns, will break the record for most wins in a coach's first 3 seasons, it was reported.
We are rolling. We are winning. We are the best franchise in the NFC.
Now we need a Super Bowl to cement the legacy of this mini-era
Let's GO!

Love this team and I very much celebrated a Packers division win last night! A lot more ahead, but this is worth noting still.
MLF has been great since taking over. Gutey has been great. Rodgers has been great. Historic feats broken year after year. Let's add that shiny trophy to the case at the end of the season!

Just think 3 years ago I was happy the Bears beat us for draft pick selection.
What a freaking turn around. And congrats to McCarthy too. He went from being fired 3 years ago to competing with his old employer for the NFC top seed.

If the Eagles and WFT don't tie, no team can clinch a playoff berth until next week.
If the Eagles and WFT DO tie, FOUR NFC teams could clinch playoff spots this week.
The Cowboys would be in. The Bucs and Cardinals would get there if Minnesota also does not win against the Bears. And the Rams could join the party if Minnesota doesn't win AND the Rams win, themselves.
Funny that so many teams' fates can be impacted by a tie game between two outside-looking-in teams
Only 4 teams in the NFL are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
So 1 clinched (us), 4 eliminated, just 27 teams to shake out the rest.

I think the AFC is so, so crazy.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021 13:03If the Eagles and WFT don't tie, no team can clinch a playoff berth until next week.

One week ago you had New England #1 in the AFC and the Bills outside looking in. You also had the Chargers in a position to vie for the #1 seed.
One week later, the Chargers are a loss away from being out of the playoffs after a dropped TD on a terrible, terrible personal tragic play. And then the Pats can go from the #1 seed to being outside looking in if they lose to Buffalo.
Absolutely crazy how tight that AFC is.
At least the Packers have seperate themselves from the Pack by a coniderable margin from the #1 seed to the #7 seed.
One thing to keep in mind too.
The Packers will play the Browns and Vikes who are both VERY much still alive for the playoffs. We are going to get their best shot for sure.

Yeah the gap from the current 1-seed to the current 10-seed is 1.5 games (both because the Browns are a game shy until they play this week and because the Steelers have a tie)
So 1.5 games in the standings is the difference between sitting home and homefield advantage.
Which is why clinching for us feels so good. It's not (just) because we have a crap division. It's also because we have the league's best record. We'd have a clinched spot in the playoffs even if we hadn't clinched our division because we can only get down to 6 possible losses on the season, and the NFC only has 6 teams with fewer than 7 losses right now.

This clinch is fine and dandy. Need to take it to 3 more levels to make it meaningful. Yeah....let's GO!YoHoChecko wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021 12:31I know this has been discussed, but I do think checking this accomplishment off the list is worth its own thread.

Of those two playoff diagrams @go pak go posted, the Packers have played 11 of those teams and hold an 8-3 record against them.
The best of both conferences and this team is 8-3. That's damn impressive.

To be fair those are the 25 best teams in the NFL, combined on two lists. So not a whole lot beneath them. Haha.
That's true, however, I was thinking more along the lines of what many detractors will bring up: the Packers success is based upon them playing in a weak division.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021 14:11To be fair those are the 25 best teams in the NFL, combined on two lists. The Packers have played a tough schedule thus far and have seen great success. This ain't no Patriots of the feeble AFC East kinda thing that Belichick and Brady took advantage of all those years.
The Packers are 4-0 against the NFC West (likely will have 3 playoff teams)
The Packers are 3-0 against the AFC North (could very well have 3 playoff teams)
Our only losses are the one offs against the Saints, Chiefs and division game. The Chiefs and Vikings I full heartedly believe we win and were the better team. Just some dropped INTs and special teams issues.

Whatever the quality of that list, we have quality wins to show. And that is being battle tested, all the while missing some very key players.
Does Dallas hold a potential tie-breaker against us? So, we are one game ahead of them? Then, with us holding tie breakers against the Bucs and Cards, we are effectively two games ahead of them? And this is with three games to play (two of them being at home).
This is pretty darned good. No time for a let up.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

That's pretty much it in a nutshell 4Pack. Cowboys have the CONFERENCE WINS tiebreaker. Packers can't let up ............ may need to run the table as the Cowboys have weak opponents going forward and a competent defense. Packers still have to play the Vikings on January 2nd which is usually a challenge / could be one of those ugly games (I sure hope not).Scott4Pack wrote: ↑21 Dec 2021 07:37Whatever the quality of that list, we have quality wins to show. Hey ......... yesterday during the Bears-Vikings TV broadcast before the game outcome was decided, they mentioned that Kirk Cousins' overall regular season record is 58-58-2. And he's 1-3 in the playoffs. After yesterday's W over Duh Bears Cousins' is now 59-58-2 in the regular season. Cousins came into the league in 2012.
The same could be said of the cowgirls. The NFCE isn't a juggernaut either.APB wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021 14:21That's true, however, I was thinking more along the lines of what many detractors will bring up: the Packers success is based upon them playing in a weak division.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021 14:11To be fair those are the 25 best teams in the NFL, combined on two lists. Plus in that Chiefs game AR didn't play.go pak go wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021 14:48The Packers are 4-0 against the NFC West (likely will have 3 playoff teams)

I mean yeah. But the Packers team itself still likely wins that game if not for STs, a dropped INT and Mason taking away 3 points. That's my larger thing rather than if Rodgers was in or not.Pugger wrote: ↑21 Dec 2021 09:08Plus in that Chiefs game AR didn't play.go pak go wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021 14:48The Packers are 4-0 against the NFC West (likely will have 3 playoff teams)
