Poor Detroit.

It's stunning, because they really have had some talent over the years. Especially on offense. They just can't put it together.

I think of the late years with Joey Harrington. They had WR's to throw too. Had some big guys on the D line, and had Bly and Goodman in the secondary.

Harrington was such a sorry QB.

California state colleges are out for the fall. Which means no USC or Cal. Which means the odds that there is no college football in 2020 are now incredibly high.

The fact that they made a decision so early also puts some pressure on the NFL/NCAA to clarify the Supplemental Draft/College Eligibility questions for these schools and others.

Just FYI, USC is a private school; UCLA might be what you're thinking of 8-)

But hey, the Lions were really good in the 1950's. They won three NFL championships during that decade. I guess they used up all their mojo back then.

After those championships they traded their great QB Bobby Layne. And he cursed them with the line they won't win for 50 years.

I forgot Jon Kitna had a stop there. As well as Jeff Garcia. I don't remember Daunte Culpepper being there either, but he served as a backup for two years.

Anyways, yeah, what a terrible team.

My favorite Jon Kitna memory was him throwing a Pick-6 to Nick Collins to seal the game in 2008. He was walking towards the sideline with his helmet off and Collins was barely crossing the 15 yard line on his way to the EZ.

Not super clear, but you see the pick and you see Kitna walking off... its one of the first clips.

I've seen that highlight video before, and if you don't feel like you just got smacked in the face when it cuts to that Carolina game. Man.

Has been said so many damned times over the years but just imagine if Nick Collins had stayed healthy. I bet we'd have had at least 1 more :lombardi: in the McCarthy/TT era. Just a terrible break we (and he) caught there.

I forgot how good Nick Collins was. Yeah he struggled a little with dropped ints his first couple of seasons, but you could tell he was going to be good. Too bad his career was cut short.
I Met him, very nice guy. Very mellow quiet guy off the field.
