54 years ago today was the Ice Bowl. You may want to pause for a moment and reflect. The 31 Wedge play. The 68 yard drive. The 1967 Packers. The 1959 to 1967 Packers. The 5 titles in 7 years. The 6 title games in 8 years. The Hall of Famers: Vince, Bart, Jimmy, Paul, Jerry, Forrest, Ringo, Willie and WIllie, Herb, Dave and Henry (and Emlen). Then there's Fuzzy, Gale, Skoronski, Bowman, Masters, Elijah, Tom Moore, Marv, Boyd, Carroll, Max, Ron Kramer and Kostelnik, Bob Long, Lionel, Lee Roy, Tommy Crutcher, Tom Bettis, Bill Forester, Hank Gremminger, Jesse Whittenton, Doug Hart, Tom Brown, Bob Jeter, Donny Anderson, Jim Grabowski, Ben Wilson, Chuck Mercein, Don Chandler, Happiness is Muddin' Big Bob Brown, Dave Hanner, Dan Currie, Bill Curry, Lew Carpenter, Gary Knafelc, John Symank, Travis Williams, and on and on ....... Remember it like it was yesterday. I was 9 y/o and hooked for life. Funny how I was never worried watching that game. Now if they don't get more than 2 yds on first down I start pacing around. Need to get back to being optimistic instead of pessimistic.

I was 16 years old. The first game I remember watching was the loss against the Eagles in the championship game.

We were conditioned to believe that the Packers would find a way to win. Ok, I wasn’t as intellectually developed, but I have to admit that I took it for granted. The ‘70s were a rude awakening. In retrospect, I believe Vince deserves most of the credit for changing the culture in GB and leading the club to a winning mentality, Yes he had the underutilized talent, but he knew what he had to do - AND HE EXECUTED. He preached, I don’t care if they know what we are going to run, we are going to EXECUTE if so well that it won’t matter.

This morning, it was reported that Dan Reeves, at the age of 77, has passed. He was a running back for the Cowboys during the ice bowl game. RIP.

Reeves threw the TD pass to Rentzel on the HB option. Sorry to hear of his passing.

We are losing too many of the guys from that era every day. RIP.

My parents wouldn't let me go in those temps but they did. Dad brought newspapers to put on the cement floor and placed a lit candle in a coffee can between the feet of both he and Mom. Hubby has regretted not keeping his ticket stub so he can prove he was truly there instead of the 100,000 who claim to now. He froze while sitting in the end zone where Bart scored the winning TD at the end of the game. I swear his feet are still cold.
