ive never read Ayn Rand "Atlas Shrugged", no idea what its about or why it would be controversial. But I see across certain pockets of the interwebs, Rodgers is catching heat for showing that he owns that book last night on the Manningcast. I see lots of people saying "that explains everything" and "this guy is a nut" blah blah etc etc.
My point is that I honestly think everyone is ready to give Rodgers the MVP if its based purely on what happens on the field. I mean I hear multiple broadcasters now just full on assume its going to him saying things like "Aaron Rodgers who is on his way to winning his second MVP..." and stuff like that.
I think at this point if he doesnt win it then it is persecution for his contrarian style, voters mad he misled about his vax status, people mad he gets on Mcafee and scoffs at the conventional narrative etc.
Some people love that stuff, but I could see some people changing their vote in order to "not give him a platform" in the world we live in today.
Not saying thats going to happen..but if he doesnt win..I think its a factor.

I wouldn't use the word "persecution" for "not winning MVP" but I get what you mean. My litmus test on this is Peter King, who has a long history of inserting his politics and personal views into his sports analysis and who you would expect to be on the other side of that debate favors Rodgers as MVP. If he's willing to vote for the guy, I doubt it will have much tangible impact on the vote.Drj820 wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 08:21I think at this point if he doesnt win it then it is persecution for his contrarian style, voters mad he misled about his vax status, people mad he gets on Mcafee and scoffs at the conventional narrative etc.

I could see a lot of people holding it against him under the argument that it cost him to miss a game and that while sure, many people missed games, the MVP shouldn't have missed a game. We're voting for ONE very best player on the year, we can remove people for missing games. The missed game enhanced his "value" argument by some perspectives, but I could definitely see people who want to vote against the vaxx stuff justifying it through the missed game.

Dan Grazziano just directly said on ESPN that he'd "love to be able to dock Rodgers for missing a game and making a selfish choice," but the game he missed didn't cost the team because they're still the 1-seed, so it's Rodgers.
So that's another person in the "if people were going to hold it against him, he would likely be one"

The house always wins. It won't be a unanimous win, but it'll be a win for Rodgers. Something I openly said wouldn't happen not long ago. Amazing 2nd half of the season.
RIP JustJeff
So Rodgers wins this year and he separates himself from the pack just a little more with only Peyton Manning ahead of him with 5 MVP awards. There were several guys with 3, only Rodgers will have 4.
Rare Air.

And no doubt, he'll be shooting for that 5, or 6 should he keep playing.

I mean Tom Brady is certainly deserving. Significantly higher production. Just slightly less efficient production. Now winning games without star players. One more loss than GB. Rodgers will get it because of recentsy domination (and he fully deserves that) and because the defense limited the opposing offense early in the season to keep tacking wins when the offensive passing production wasn't there.
I think both players could easily have arguments made why they deserve it. I really hope Rodgers now wins it solely for the fact of keeping this "outside noise" out of it. I don't want to live through the next few months hearing why a vaxx and book are why Rodgers got snubbed. Because either way there would be no snubbing. Both are deserving.

ok but TOM BRADY GOT SHUT OUT ON NATIONAL TV IN A DIVISIONAL GAME THAT WOULD HAVE PAVED THE PATH TO THE NFC'S 1-SEED so he is literally not eligible for consideration anymore by anyone who cares about quality of awards
Eric Stokes will not win DROY or anything, but he has been beyond my wildest expectations as a rookie. He has been kinda invisible since he gets thrown at so little, since he just is in position all the time, or can catch up. And number 1 WRs haven't eaten us alive even when Jaire has been out. Stokes would have gotten a ton more opportunities for INTs if Jaire was playing. Shame he has dropped several or he could be in the convo for accolades.
Thinking about the playoffs. Jaire, Stokes and Douglas are one helluva nickel package. Could do a lot worse than King/Sully as number 4 and 5. And Campbell is the best cover LB we've had in ages.

12 is also a whole lot more interceptions than 4. If Rodgers threw 12 we probably would be like the 4 seed.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 09:50ok but TOM BRADY GOT SHUT OUT ON NATIONAL TV IN A DIVISIONAL GAME THAT WOULD HAVE PAVED THE PATH TO THE NFC'S 1-SEED so he is literally not eligible for consideration anymore by anyone who cares about quality of awards

thing is though it could have mattered, Rodgers play on the field has been easily good enough to win MVP, myself I'd give it to Taylor or even Cooper Kupp.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 08:53Dan Grazziano just directly said on ESPN that he'd "love to be able to dock Rodgers for missing a game and making a selfish choice," but the game he missed didn't cost the team because they're still the 1-seed, so it's Rodgers.

I know some of my feelings on this stem from Rodgers not vaxing and then the deception that followed, to me that stuff does matter because it affects your availability to play, I look at this about the same as a player doping and getting caught and suspended for a game or two.

- Choosing not to take a controversial medication containing a personal allergen = knowingly taking a banned substance to gain an unfair advantage
- Evasively answering a question = intentionally subverting the established rules.
When you break it down, this is what it sounds like you are saying. Is this accurate?
all except the controversail medication part, all vaccines have had some side affects, however all vaccines have one thing in common, they save most peoples lives, and help greatly to stop the spread of the virus, and I don't buy for a minute your or Rodgers arguments to the contrary.APB wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 11:06Yoop wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 10:40I know some of my feelings on this stem from Rodgers not vaxing and then the deception that followed, to me that stuff does matter because it affects your availability to play, I look at this about the same as a player doping and getting caught and suspended for a game or two.

I think I've made my opinion of anti vaxxers quite clear APB, if you want to talk to me more about it simply PM me, as I said I would not make Rodgers the MVP for this season based on his personal actions, and if he should become positive again and held out of PO games then he could cost us a SB, also being in the military you know first hand why we have rules.
As crazy as this seems to me, some are so passionate about vaccines and covid that I could see Yoop not being alone in this thought process. Thats why I posed the possibility this stuff could hurt him earlier.Yoop wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 10:40I know some of my feelings on this stem from Rodgers not vaxing and then the deception that followed, to me that stuff does matter because it affects your availability to play, I look at this about the same as a player doping and getting caught and suspended for a game or two.
For me, equating not taking a shot and taking PEDs is insane.

So you discount completely Rodgers claim of an ingredient contained within the vaccine that he is allergic to?Yoop wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 11:20all except the controversail medication part, all vaccines have had some side affects, however all vaccines have one thing in common, they save most peoples lives, and help greatly to stop the spread of the virus, and I don't buy for a minute your or Rodgers arguments to the contrary.APB wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 11:06Yoop wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 10:40I know some of my feelings on this stem from Rodgers not vaxing and then the deception that followed, to me that stuff does matter because it affects your availability to play, I look at this about the same as a player doping and getting caught and suspended for a game or two.

Regardless of that, the fact you equate those actions (non-vax vs doping) is eye-popping to me.

Mod edit: We're not debating that here.
not debating you on these issues here on this thread, just noting that I doubt you are alone in this radical line of thinking and I hope it does not factor into Rodgers chances of winning MVP, but recognize that it could.Yoop wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 11:33<snip>Drj820 wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022 11:23As crazy as this seems to me, some are so passionate about vaccines and covid that I could see Yoop not being alone in this thought process.
