From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Rams are a better version of the 49ers in every way except TE.
The 49ers OL still matches up with our Front-7 better than the Rams OL. Just more size and ability to erase one of our EDGE guys with Williams. That whole 49ers rushing attack is just far more proficient than the Rams and a repeat of that 2020 game against the Vikings is what scares me.
Eh, I am not enamored by the 49ers rushing attack and combining that with Akers coming back for the Rams, I don't believe the 49ers are better in that area at least.
49ers have a good center to LT, but the right side...

For me, I'm thinking about what types of gameplay tend to thrive in the cold and/or snow
Speed gets mitigated. The downfield passing game gets mitigated.
You're looking at teams who are physical, play a ball control style, don't turn the ball over very much, and can break tackles on offense.
And teams that can stop the running game and have a prayer at guarding Davante Adams on defense.
These cold weather styles also pair up unfortunately with our occasionally-absent run defense (though we have generally been a strong tackling team).
So while a team may not conventionally "scare" me, I look to smart game managers at QB (Brady, Garropolo), I look to strong rushing attacks (Philly, sometimes SF, Tampa with Fornette healthy), and I look at dominant TEs--intermediate passing game targets who can break tackles (Gronk, Kittle; Goedert is also pretty good)
The Rams are an L.A. team with an L.A. coach and an L.A. style of offense. Their run game stinks (Cam Akers may enhance, but not create). Kupp definitely seems like a "thrive in the cold" style WR, but the rest of them not as much. The Cowboys' OL hasn't given their run game any room, and they're another 3-WR alignment team that does best with good conditions to throw the ball around.
The Bucs if Fournette returns and Gronk is healthy, and the 49ers is Garopllo is healthy now that Kittle is back in fine form, and the Eagles with Hurts making tacklers slip all over the field and the cadre of mediocre RBs that are performing above their depth.... I think they all can come into a cold weather environment and attack the weaknesses of our team. I think we're better than them all, but the weather and the style of play show me a path.
The think I like about playing the Rams is Stafford coming to lambeau, kind of makes me Lol
The think I don’t like about playing them is they may be one of the hottest teams in the league. They’ve got Ramsey, they may get Akers back, and they’ve won 6 straight.

I would say this gets WAY overhyped, especially when temperatures are 20+, which can easily be the case in Green Bay in January. I would say positional matchups are a much greater concern than if a team can pass in cold weather or not. If a team can pass in warm weather they can pass in moderately cold weather. TB didn't offer a very cold friendly offense to us last year and whooped our D.

Certainly, if we get a regular degular cool winter day like we did last year, then yeah. But also, I listed Gronk and Fournette and Brady as ideal players to face us...
But there's no denying that when there is some precipitation while cold, it vastly impacts the game, and Rodger-to-Adams, as well as Dillon, are ideally suited to exploit that in opposing defenses. So it got me thinking about who could exploit that for us. Especially after watching the way the Browns exerted their will on our defense when they really put their gameplan into it.

Not a team I’m begging to play
I just think we're much better than them and that they play as a group of talented guys more than as a team. They're classic paper tigers to me. Stafford has never had "it," and I mean that dating all the way back to rooting for him at UGA. I am immune from any fear regarding a team he is leading. And Odell Beckham seems to be fitting in, but has a history of making offenses less than the sum of their parts. And our back-up OL held serve against their dominant defensive front. And their OL isn't good enough.
They're a fantasy football team. Volume and stats. Weak in the non-headline positions.

Rams and Bucs running game is very similar. Neither frighten me at all. OBJ played in NYC for years. Kittle and Samuel are very good, but the weapons just aren't there like they are with the Rams or even the Cowboys. Those 2 teams can stretch us thinner than any of the other teams. The Bucs now don't scare me other than stupid Brady unexplainable magic. Eagles receivers would be their downfall and I think we could make them live or die by passing, which I would take.

Cold cold and snow are definitely possible, but I think those types of considerations should be down the list seeing as they aren't predictable.

Let's bring back the NFC Title to Titletown . Don't really care which order Tampa Bay or Dallas comes in to town again. Hoping to make it to both games.
Also, I think they are one of the best record teams since like October.
They have lost 3.
Rams have lost 3.
Bucs have lost 4.
Cowboys have lost 4.
Eagles have lost 2.
Saints suck.
Packers have lost 2.
Cardinals have lost 4.
They're middle of the road for playoff teams.
You can only play what is on your schedule, but ew, is that a super unimpressive run for the Eagles.
The only possible playoff team the Eagles have beaten are the Saints with Trevor Siemian at QB...
We would annihilate both teams, but both will get trounced in round 1.

I know this isn't what the question is about, but I've always been a sucker for story lines, so the two teams I most want to see at Lambeau in January are Dallas and Tampa. Dallas just to recreate the Ice Bowl. Tampa just to avenge last season and see Brady go down in flames. Next in line, maybe the 9ers, also for vengeance.
The rest? Rams? Boring. Arizona? Boring. Eagles? Boring? Saints? No fun.
The Packers lunatic fringe is more visible because of sheer numbers. The Packers have one of the largest fan bases in all of sports. If the fringe percentage is the same as with other teams, then we end up with larger volumes of nut jobs. - JustJeff
True Ringo; as far as storylines, I like the idea of having beaten as many of the playoff teams as possible
So having already beaten the Rams, Cardinals, 49ers, it'd be cool to also go Bucs-Cowboys as a route
And also like the idea of getting rematch wins over each of our league-low 3 losses. Lost to Vikings? Beat the Vikings. Lost to Saints? Beat the Saints in the playoffs. Lost to Chiefs? Beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Very true. Any given Sunday in the regular season. Even more so in the playoffs.

I am curious, if we take this one step further, on a neutral field in LA with perfect temps, who do we want to see (or not see) as a potential Super Bowl match-up?

I'd rather not see Tennessee if AJ Brown, Julio Jones, and Derrick Henry are all fully healthy and clicking.
I'd rather not see Bill Bellichick even though I think we're way better than the Pats
I think that's really it. I think we have the secondary to match the Bengals and their OL and defense are exposable. I think the Bills matchup would be fun and they don't have a running game capable of exploiting our vulnerability there. I watched us be the better team than the Chiefs already once this year. Raiders or Chargers? Certainly! The Colts present some issues but Carson Wentz.
There is no such team I would not like. There is nothing close to 2008 where I did not want Romo’s Dallas or Kaepernick’s 49ers some years later. We can beat anybody but anybody can beat us, it just feels open.

It does certainly feel that way. There really isn't a "Hot" team like the Bucs were last year or like the 2010 Packers were. Based on talent and level of play, the Packers "should" be poised to win it all this year. Like others have said, more worried about us coming out flat and not being able to dig ourselves out of a hole.
