Rodgers wants out

My top 4 options if I was Rodgers.
Indy
Pro - Great RB, great O-line, lots of cap space, solid defense with one of the best ILB in the league. Dome.
Con - Too far East?
Miami
Pro - Decent O-line, could partner Adams with Parker, Waddle, and Gesicki (if they re-sign him). Some nice D pieces and tons of cap room.
Miami - too far East? No familiar faces. Probably needs the most help (but has the most money)
Broncos
Pro - Sutton, Patrick, Jeudy, and add Adams would be great WR group. Have the money and know they are willing to build around Rodgers. Have a D to win now.
Con - Weather?
Browns
Pro - O-line to win now. Chubb, Landry, People-Jones, Hooper and bring in Adams. D ready to come together with good young and vet talent. Has some money to spend. Van Pelt.
Con - Organization been a mess for a long time (though could be a pro for Rodgers). Weather?

I believe Rodgers sees weather as an advantage for him and a disadvantage for his opponentspaco wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022 13:06My top 4 options if I was Rodgers.

I Do Not Hate Matt Lafleur
True but Green Bay weather isn't the same as Cleveland or Denver weather. Its an advantage because he's familiar with it. Anywhere else, its new to him. Denver has the elevation thing. Cleveland is pretty close though.Drj820 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022 13:07I believe Rodgers sees weather as an advantage for him and a disadvantage for his opponentspaco wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022 13:06My top 4 options if I was Rodgers.

amassing no one thinks Rodgers will play for the Packa's next year, and he may drag Tae, Hackett, and stenivich with him, Possibly Lazard as well, this stuff is so depressing, anyone want to talk about pass rush versus coverage?
as others have said, there will be a half doz teams vying for his services, and I think we'll be one of em.

I voted Packers.
Yeah. The team will look very different but I think AR and Adams are on it.
I think I have reached the conclusion that, unless Adams signs an extension in the next few days (I think the deadline is fast approaching), he's gone. We just cannot afford to pay him what he is truly worth on the open market.

I genuinely don't understand why so many people who spent months convinced this was the last season in Green Bay have changed his mind based entirely on him saying he's having fun playing football? I'm honestly confused by so many changed minds.
I could see, like, ambivalence or uncertainty... but the number of people who think he's coming back is just a bit surprising to me. I'm not sure what he's said that points that way--some of the things interpreted that he's staying are just as easily interpreted that he's leaving.
I once had a friend tell me she was going to kill herself at midnight the following day. She had a plan and everything, not simply cry for help stuff. I went to her house that day and we didn't get alone time but I was overwhelmed by the fact that she seemed fine--happy even; and she told me she was ok, that everything was fine.
That night she overdosed and would have died had she not been sent to the hospital in time. It was through that difficult experience that I learned that often, when people are at peace with a decision, they're happiest. It's not an indication of which decision they have made, but simply that they know.
Rodgers sentimentality strikes me similarly. He's taking it all in and feeling nostalgic and emotional about it, but that doesn't mean he's leaning toward staying or going. It could mean either. It could just mean he's at peace with what's to come.
Weird reference, I know. But the point stands.

I never, or for a while anyway, thought this is his last season in GB.
I think next year is a big chance for it to be his last year. It will hurt GB in that he basically walks but will suit Rodgers.

I mean I predicted this would happen in August. You just knew people would have their mind changed because they are winning, having fun, etc. People are stupid, emotional and irrational. Sentiment changes by the day. This was honestly the most predictable thing of human behavior I could think of.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022 15:57I genuinely don't understand why so many people who spent months convinced this was the last season in Green Bay have changed his mind based entirely on him saying he's having fun playing football? You knew when people said, "win a last Lombardi and get draft picks" would go away immediately once they started looking like they might actually win a Lombardi.
The poll still is 56% stay 44% go - that is pretty close. I actually thought stay would be heavier at this stage.go pak go wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022 16:16I mean I predicted this would happen in August. why would Guty sell off a bunch of very good starters to keep these two that want to be paid the most per position in the league, it's a team sport, this aint golf, I don't see us keeping either one.

Can someone please explain to me why Rodgers would stay if Adams, MVS, Tonyan, Lazard, Preston, Z, Nijman, Campbell and Rasul Douglas are all gone?
The Packers probably won't even be a wildcard team next season if they keep Rodgers and lose all those players.

The idea that he will see out his contract is one very few people are considering. It's interesting to think if it would be viable.
My view is the Packers would rather get a year of seeing Love in action before deciding on his 5th year option and would rather get a couple of first rounders for Rodgers than one year on a cap restricted team before letting him go for nothing.
I can't imagine he would redo his deal for one year at a lower cap number either. I suspect he wants a commitment for 4+ years, be that from us, or a new team.

It was said when Rodgers came back to the team that agreement was made that his last year was voided and he would be involved with the decision on his potential trade. What does that mean? Can Rodgers block trades he doesn't like? I haven't seen enough information to know.British wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022 16:58The idea that he will see out his contract is one very few people are considering. But if Rodgers does have the ability to reject trades by declining specific teams etc it presents the opportunity that the packers would have to keep him for his last year, cut him or extend him. All better options for Rodgers than a trade.
The only way AR stays is on a long extension. If he gets that, he doesn't have to think year to year.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022 16:43Can someone please explain to me why Rodgers would stay if Adams, MVS, Tonyan, Lazard, Preston, Z, Nijman, Campbell and Rasul Douglas are all gone?

He may accept the fact 2022 will be relatively rough, but see that even with some tough, inevitable losses of good players, we'll still likely win NFC North in 2022, and there will be a quality core to build around for a new real push starting in 2023. Gutey has been pretty savvy at finding talent and LaFleur's scheme is still exciting and can evolve with incoming talent.
Besides, I dunno how logical this line of thinking is: "I hate the idea of losing many of my friends and quality teammates, so I'll force a trade that guarantees I'll lose ALL my friends and quality teammates (save for maybe one or two)".
And unless AR is willing to wait until Adams has signed with another team, there's no guarantee they would end up on the same team.
After reading this all this talk about Rodgers leaving GB seems to be just talk by media types.

That's a reasonable take. I didn't know that they were both seeking top $.Yoop wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022 16:42why would Guty sell off a bunch of very good starters to keep these two that want to be paid the most per position in the league, it's a team sport, this aint golf, I don't see us keeping either one.
The best chance of AR coming back is if we win the Super Bowl IMO. Another playoff elimination will renew that sense of frustration in him, whether it's justified or not.
I still think he will be back, just a gut feeling.
