Super Wild Card Weekend


Saturday, Jan. 15

(5) Raiders at (4) Bengals: 4:30 p.m. ET (NBC). This is a rematch of a game that the Bengals won 32-13 on the road back in Week 11. This is the firs time these two teams have met in the postseason since January 1991 when the Raiders started Cincinnati's 31-year playoff losing streak.

(6) Patriots at (3) Bills: 8:15 p.m. ET (CBS) Stream: Paramount+ (click here). These two division rivals will be meeting for the third time this season. The Patriots and Bills split their season-series with the home team losing each time.


Sunday, Jan. 16

(7) Eagles at (2) Buccaneers: 1 p.m. ET (Fox). The Eagles will get another crack at a Buccaneers team that beat them 28-22 back in Week 6. After that loss, the Eagles went 7-4 over their final 11 games to earn a playoff berth.

(6) 49ers at (3) Cowboys: 4:30 p.m. ET (CBS and Nickelodeon) Stream: Paramount+ (click here). This will be a rematch of one of the most storied rivalries in NFL playoff history. Although these two teams have met seven times in the playoffs, this will mark the first time since the 1994 season, which is also the last time the 49ers won the Super Bowl.

(7) Steelers at (2) Chiefs: 8:15 p.m. ET (NBC). Ben Roethlisberger will get a chance to extend his retirement for another week or two if the Steelers can figure out a way to upset the Chiefs. However, that won't be easy, considering Kansas City blew the Steelers out 36-10 just two weeks ago.


Monday, Jan. 17

(5) Cardinals at (4) Rams: 8:15 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN). These two division rivals will be meeting for the third time this season. The Cardinals and Rams split their season-series with the home team losing each time, which isn't great news for the Rams, who will be the home team in this game.

I bet we will know by Sunday afternoon when we play.


Arizona/Rams are likely a guarantee to play the following Sunday, after getting Monday night.

We will know if we are playing the winner of that game or not by the end of the first two NFC games.


If Philly or SF win, we will play Saturday, if they both lose, we will play Sunday.

If the Niners and/or Eagles don't pull a major upset, we end up facing the Cards or Rams. I'll take that any day.

I wouldn't discount how Week 18 may impact weather in the post-season. Last year, I starkly remember Tampa lucking out on the week of hell that followed from a temperature standpoint. January 24th last year for NFCCG. January 30th this year.

I wouldn't discount how Week 18 may impact weather in the post-season. Last year, I starkly remember Tampa lucking out on the week of hell that followed from a temperature standpoint. January 24th last year for NFCCG. January 30th this year.

Ya, I don't think weather plays too much of factor unless it is extreme. I just think it is crazy how the 1 and 7 seed are the only cold weather teams.

Here's what we know today (Central Time Zone):
If it's Saturday January 22nd, kickoff will either be at 3:35 p.m. or 7:15 p.m.
If it's Sunday January 23rd, kickoff will either be at 2:05 p.m. or 5:40 p.m.

If we play the Rams or Cardinals, since they play on Monday night, I've gotta believe the Divisional Playoff game at Lambeau would be on Sunday. If we play the 49ers or Eagles, then there would be no reason to not play on Saturday (with Sunday being a possibility as well).

Make sense?

p.s. I remember trying to figure this out in previous seasons and there was no trend to follow really.

If the same weekend its Dallas vs. Tampa, then I'd hope Dallas vs. Tampa would be the late game. Whatever ...............

That is too cold for football. It is -4 right now temp (not wind chill) and I can't imagine playing a football game in that. 10 deg is plenty cold to effect the other team but not be unbearable for the home team.
The 14 year old me would never say such a thing.

Concur....the colder the better. Packers lost to the 49ers at Lambeau when it was +4F. And lost to the Giants at Lambeau when it was -4F.

Out of all the NFC playoff teams, which one is our toughest matchup? I would say it's still Tampa but Los Angeles might be a close second.
