im still shocked about flores. Owner had to be pissed he kept defending Tua instead of signing off on the Deshaun trade. Apparently the owner wanted Deshaun bad. I dont care who you play...if you win 7 of your last 8 or whatever it is, you are building..not sliding. Sure hope Flores doesnt go to the Vikings.

Let's hope Flores comes to the NFC North as Packers DC next year
Very weird firing. This report says Flores was a driving force behind wanting Watson.Drj820 wrote: ↑10 Jan 2022 08:43im still shocked about flores. Yes. Some talented DCs hitting the market in Fangio, Flores and Zimmer.
The problem with hiring Flores is he'd probably be gone in a year and might take a bunch of coaches with him.
Fangio and Zimmer though may have had their last HC gig.

yea but I dont think Barry is in danger in GB at all. Hes done fine all year (mostly).

I think we are maybe over-estimating Flores a bit here. I mean 3 years and no playoffs. Sure a 7 game winning streak is impressive, but I have sources that tell me a 7 game losing streak is equally unimpressive.
I agree. There are exceptions, but I would never prefer a defensive-minded HC.

I think he did pretty darn well while fighting with some members of the front office from day 1 and not having a ton to work with. You don't see a lot of coaches get canned after 2 winning seasons.
Either way, good for him to start fresh elsewhere. But what Miami really needs to do is dump that GM. 22 years of nothing with him there. How is he still there?

Just not a guy I am gunna lose a wink of sleep over if the Bears or Vikings come sniffing around.
If he couldn't succeed by having a less than ideal ownership and FO, less than adequate QB and not good enough players, well.. I'll let you finish that thought.

Flores had two winning seasons out of three with less than ideal GM, ownership, and QB. He also never had an OL for his QBs. That team played hard for him.
I think he did very well all things considered.

Any coach fighting with the GM... I would say he didn't do well enough. Like BF004 touched on, I am not blaming him solely, just think a year from now, Miami isn't going to be kicking themselves for "the one that got away".

I like him, I think he can be decent in the right situation with a really good team. I think that team there is underrated, I think that might be a coveted HC spot, especially if there is a solid plan to get a QB, like a Watson or someone.
Just if he comes to the north, I don't think he'll be a primary factor if a team does really well. It will because they struck gold at QB, or have a good GM who drafts extremely well.
Chicago and Minnesota are very much likely to be in worse shape than Miami. So why would expectations be any higher?
you keep insinuating that the Chi town Bears, and the detwoat Lions will always be who they have been the last 35 to 60 years respectively speaking, both are in the process of over hauling coaches, GM's and FO people, not sure I expect a status quo future with either team.
Something they've done multiple times and still haven't gotten better. Until they prove they can create a team that compete with use for more than a year or 2, there's no cause for concern. Will worry about it if/when it happens. Goes for all 3 teams in the division.Yoop wrote: ↑10 Jan 2022 10:47you keep insinuating that the Chi town Bears, and the detwoat Lions will always be who they have been the last 35 to 60 years respectively speaking, both are in the process of over hauling coaches, GM's and FO people, not sure I expect a status quo future with either team.

Yeah, other than a quick flash in the pan/luck, no team has any real sustained success and likely won't until the culture changes. No real indication that has changed anywhere, outside of maybe Detroit. But I'll believe that when I see it. No guarantee the changes will be for the better.paco wrote: ↑10 Jan 2022 10:51Something they've done multiple times and still haven't gotten better. everyteam is who they are, until they arent.
Meaning, yeah the jokes should probably be treated as jokes for now...but things certainly can change. And both orgs are in that time time period where if they hit a home run..things could change now, and quick.
I think Chicago is attractive because the defense has pieces, and i do think Fields is a good prospect. So they may have QB figured out, if so...they arent far off from turning it around with a good hire.
But...they dont deserve the benefit of the doubt so il believe it when i see it.
