The real question. Is Aaron willing to give up ownership of the Bears to become owner of the Broncos (or whoever)? You can't be an owner of multiple teams.

And now they are going to interview him: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... ith-bears/

Oh I really hope they don't hire him.texas wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 13:24And now they are going to interview him: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... ith-bears/

I think very highly of Flores.

I would be shocked it Chicago goes with the defensive coach in Fields’ 2nd year.go pak go wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 13:54Oh I really hope they don't hire him.texas wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 13:24And now they are going to interview him: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... ith-bears/

I think he is highly overrated. I think people are talking him up like he's a top candidate, whereas I think he is only an average candidate. Can an average candidate become a great coach eventually? Yeah probably, but I would bet against it. I think if the Bears hire him, it would be more likely that he would just be yet another Bears coach looking lost by year 3. But maybe I'm wrong and he is competent.go pak go wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 13:54Oh I really hope they don't hire him.texas wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 13:24And now they are going to interview him: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... ith-bears/

Honestly his situation (reputation compared to actual performance and ability so far) is a lot like that of Justin Fields. So maybe he'd be a perfect fit.
Chicago has always built its best teams around strong defense and special-teams carrying a lousy offense.
So I too would also rather they not hire Flores, who I think is probably a pretty good coach (but, worse/more importantly, the right kind of coach for them). I rather see them keep trying to go after "Offensive Mastermind"-types like Trestman, Nagy, etc.

The Bears have brought in the revered Bill Polian, bills built 5 championship teams between Buffalo and the Colts, whether that means anything or not, but I'd have more respect for his decision concerning GM and HC prospects for the Bears then I'd have for the two thats done it for the past 40 years.
Polian is from the same bygone era as the Bear’s leadership you refer to in your last sentence. They’re attempting to fix what ails them with the same type dinosaur eyes that got them there in the first place.Yoop wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 15:30The Bears have brought in the revered Bill Polian, bills built 5 championship teams between Buffalo and the Colts, whether that means anything or not, but I'd have more respect for his decision concerning GM and HC prospects for the Bears then I'd have for the two thats done it for the past 40 years.

2 seasons... nice job Giants.

'Kinda funny to see the Jags interview Hackett after notably firing him years ago, his last job in this league before GB (largely a scapegoat for Marrone).
Personally if I were a team looking for a HC or even a OC, I would be very skeptical of Hackett, albeit for no real fault of his own. It's not just that he's the OC of an offense with Rodgers at QB, but also one that is largely directed by the HC. 'Just really tough to be able to tell how much he's responsible for the success and how much he's just riding the wave. I get that interviews exist for that reason, but still, some guys interview well but don't actually perform.

MLF and Rodgers both have talked about his role. Any team would likely reach out to both of them.Labrev wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 18:39'Kinda funny to see the Jags interview Hackett after notably firing him years ago, his last job in this league before GB (largely a scapegoat for Marrone).

Ok to be skeptical, but not sure it's fully warranted in this case.

im thrilled Bill Polian is helping them with the search. Polian famously said Lamar Jackson had no future at QB and should convert to WR. Great news hes helping out!Yoop wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 15:30The Bears have brought in the revered Bill Polian, bills built 5 championship teams between Buffalo and the Colts, whether that means anything or not, but I'd have more respect for his decision concerning GM and HC prospects for the Bears then I'd have for the two thats done it for the past 40 years.
I Do Not Hate Matt Lafleur
Giants owner John Mara confirmed they will be hiring a new GM prior to bringing in a new HC thus confirming Gettleman is out in NY. Whether he retired or was fired...whatevs.
everyone misses on players, I wouldn't hold that against him, the point is that he's missed on less then either of Phillips or McCaskey who have been striking out ever since the Ditka and Buddy Ryan era, but you could be right, maybe Polian has lost his keen sense of football talent.Drj820 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 19:11im thrilled Bill Polian is helping them with the search. The actual point is that Bill Polian has not been with a team in 13 years.

As future HC candidates, I am quite a bit more bullish on Getsy and Stenavich than Hackett tbh.
