Hayward was playing really well in ways that were not showing up on the stat sheet (the fact you didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen... looking at you, thegreenman) but we were high on Randall and Rollins both of whom flashed as rookies. That was a big mistake, but on TT, not Capers.

I still think TT is a bit of a scapegoat here. The plan wasn't to rely on Randall and Rollins as much as we did. The plan was to rely on Sam Shields who unfortunately suffered a career ending (for all intents and purposes) concussion and left the cupboard bare. That isn't TT's fault. To make matters worse, he identified the major need at CB and maybe for the only time ever there is some evidence that they settled for Kevin King instead of doing what they always do and taking the best player on the board. They justified it by trading down, but that should have been a slam dunk.

Ya, typically players go from scrub to All-Pro in a year and it's due to them magically becoming more talented.

you of all people know it's not talent, it's dedication, players from grade school on improve practically over night, and players at this level go from one team to the next and it's as though they are completely different player, obviously there are usually more then one reason, re dedication is only one, as I said scheme fit and coaching also plays into the transition too, for cripe sakes players themselves admit they upped there game and there are numerous examples of players saying so.
