Packers 100 Seasons Videos

Post by RingoCStarrQB »

Not sure if this is old news or not, but to pass the time while sheltered-in-place you may want to tune in to the 100 seasons videos available on Packers.com. It's broken up into decades. I thought the 1950s, 1970s and 1980s videos were full of new insights for me at least. Jack Vainisi was amazing in his role helping Vince make the 1960s Packers so great.

Curly Lambeau taking the job with the Chicago Cardinals in 1950 was quite a story. In one of the videos you are reminded that under Curly Lambeau the Packers won 6 championships and only had 3 losing seasons during his entire 31 year tenure in Green Bay. http://archive.jsonline.com/sports/pack ... 75401.html Only 3 losing seasons in 31 years is quite an amazing feat.

From 1968 to 1991 the Packers had 15 losing seasons. From 1950 to 1958 the Packers had 7 losing seasons.

Only 5 losing seasons since 1992 GO PACK GO!

Yeah, these videos were fantastic. It really sounds like the darkest days were the Forrest Gregg years. Bart Starr, by many accounts, was not NFL HC material when he got the job, but had learned and grown into the job right in time to get fired. The Forrest Gregg and Larry McCarren feud, at the first team meeting was super interesting and yet Gregg lasted 4 seasons and re-signed instead of getting fired.

Meanwhile, Bob Harlan is soaking this all in and understanding every step the franchise went wrong over the years and vowing not to repeat those mistakes if he ever got the job. Thank God he did.

Striking that in the 70s and 80s the Packers traded away 4 first rounders and 4 second rounders for two ageing players who busted.

Trading away premium picks rarely works out.

Are you suggesting we stink now?

I think she is just making the point, not relating back to current times.

Oh no, I was just referring to one of the reasons why this team was terrible for almost 30 years. :|
