Only MVP, offensive player of the year and defensive player of the year.

I think I do, which I why I commented. A succession of struggles over more than a decade isn't something I'd sweep under the rug. Agree that QBs who perform like Superman during the regular season and don't in the playoffs don't grow on trees.Pugger wrote: ↑12 Feb 2022 12:31Come on now, don't split hairs. Sporting News used to award a single Player of the Year, but after 2008 they split it into offensive and defensive player of the year.RingoCStarrQB wrote: ↑12 Feb 2022 13:15What?salmar80 wrote: ↑12 Feb 2022 08:38There is no Player of the Year award.RingoCStarrQB wrote: ↑12 Feb 2022 08:13

MVP is the current "player of the year" award. Unfortunately it's practically "the best regular season QB award" these days, but times change. There was a time when kickers could win these things...

I'd be more bummed if this happened before Gary breaking out; a big part of the reason I was a big proponent of the Gary pick was I had confidence that Smith could unlock that talent.
Said talent seems to be unlocked at this point though. I would have liked for him to stay but the main thing I was hoping for from him has been achieved, now it will be interesting to see what 52 (and Garvin for that matter) can get out of a new pair of eyes.

timing seems odd. Dont think hes going somewhere to be a DC, seemed happy at probowl.
Maybe hes heading to MN to be with Pettine who is now associate HC.
Seems a little odd.

Report says it actually isn't odd at all and been talked about for a while. Surprise to us, but not the team. Lot of assumption that he'll follow Pettine. But not sure he'd get a promotion there. Pettine isn't even DC. I do agree, the timing would be odd if he didn't have something lined up already. So I'm sure he does.

Yeah i dont buy spin hook, line, n sinker based off a report. But even if it has been "talked about for a while" it is still odd. Odd to leave a good defense for a role that is not a DC position. Odd to me at least. Sounds like he has something lined up in MN, which shows he may have just not liked working for Barry.paco wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022 13:09Report says it actually isn't odd at all and been talked about for a while. So many assumptions. People need to get past the idea that they know a coach's or player's "best situation". It's not always about success. Sometimes its geography. Sometimes its just working with your friends. Sometimes its the thrill of a new challenge.Drj820 wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022 13:30Yeah i dont buy spin hook, line, n sinker based off a report. Maybe he didn't like working for Barry. But that's not the first direction I'd go based on what was reported. Demovsky isn't one to embellish typically or communicate wild ideas. And I wouldn't take that assumption from that tweet.

I find it odd hes leaving a team that knocks on the door every year. I would guess it has to do with relationships if he isnt leaving for a promotion. Not gonna apologize for stating my guess on an online forum that discusses the team lolpaco wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022 13:38So many assumptions. Since you're speculating wildly, I will too! Maybe Smith knows that the Packers aren't gonna be knocking on the door this year? Maybe he knows Rodgers and Adams are gone?

Jason Rebrovich announced as Smith's replacement. Guess it was in the works awhile.
Maybe so, but I don’t know why he would choose to go to the Vikings since I am speculating that is where he is headed!!Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022 15:03Since you're speculating wildly, I will too!
