If they can figure out a way to keep some of the core of the present roster with creative accounting I suspect all this talk about draft picks from various teams in a trade will just be that, fan and media talk.

I am not saying it's black and white... it certainly isn't. But, to act there are zero reasons that may be appealing to go elsewhere is being unfair to yourself.Realist wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 12:53And NCF throws the puggster under the bus. Hang in there Peggy. I guess I don't think Denver is a team on the cusp of the SB unless they get both AR and Adams. Without Adams Denver's WR group isn't vastly superior to ours. They are better at TE. I think we are better at RB.NCF wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 12:46There is plenty out there to read that explains, in detail, all of the reasons Denver would be attractive. There goes one of the draws of Denver, although there is still plenty of reason for him to want to go there that I doubt this really changes much, but still...

RIP JustJeff
Can you imagine how fragile a relationship would have to be if you don't marry because your fiancé wants to live in a small town in the Midwest for another 2 - 3 years (for only like 6 - 8 months out of the year).
Oh and you have the absolute means to be able to fly in and out however and whenever you please to make it not a big deal at all?
but how do you see that happening, to keep Rodgers we'll lose half this defense, in reality we'll never be able to retain as stocked a roster as last couple years, when Rodgers said he didn't want to hang around for a rebuild that imho is exactly what would happen, there are several teams in far better shape then we will be in the next few years even after trading Rodgers.Acrobat wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 12:14I think that's the big thing. Rodgers knows it. Any trade would not even equal a lateral move. His best chance at winning a Super Bowl is here (if things can be worked out financially so the whole roster isn't handcuffed).Pugger wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 12:06Let's say Rodgers asks to be traded. more and more I think the FO announcements that there willing to make Rodgers the richest player in the league again is to appease a fan base that doesn't really understand the repercussions of doing that, obviously if Rodgers waqnts to stay they will probably figure out a way to accommodate him, but i don't think thats there first choice.
a bunch of draft picks and the ability to try and keep most of this team together seems far more attractive imo.
We have Russ Ball. sure I do, we watched him kick 50 mil. of dead money into 2022 last year to keep last years team together, ya can't keep borrowing from peter to pay paul, this aint the us treasury for cripe sakesAcrobat wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 15:48We have Russ Ball. Is Denver's D that much better than ours even if we lose Z?Foosball wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 12:45Hackett, excellent wrs, better defense, better sp teams and they can afford to make Rodgers the highest paid player in the NFL with guarteed money.Pugger wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 12:06Let's say Rodgers asks to be traded. This happens every time Green Bay want to replace a quarterback. At least, anyone under 30 would think so!Scott4Pack wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 05:27Now, if the Pack wants to say that there are extenuating circumstances... After all, how many teams have a 37 year old MVP/HOF QB who might exercise an option of playing 2-5 more years? How many teams face the issue of how to replace that QB, or to deal him and let the new QB play?
I have short memory, but I don't know of a single team that has faced this.
Frankly he can do better. I commented after the KC game that I found Jordan Love's gf more attractive than Shailene and I stand by that. At least he dated someone younger than him this time...
Denver has Dom Capers. Therefore, Rodgers would have to be an idiot to go do that again. I don't think Rodgers is an idiot, so I don't think he will go to Denver. I'm not a GM. But I think the idea of Denver or anybody else giving a 1st, another 1st, and a 2nd for Rodgers is far-fetched. I mean, if they offer it, I'd be all over that. But I'm thinking more of one 1st and one 2nd, unless he can legitimately play more than 2 more years.Pugger wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022 12:06Let's say Rodgers asks to be traded. Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!
I said it in the other thread too, but I really believe now that the Packers are going to find a way (I am not a cap specialist so $%@# me) to keep Rodgers in GB for the rest of his career and I wouldn't be surprised if a deal is announced within the next 3 weeks.
I'm kind of thinking that is the case too.
I don't agree with the decision unless we can make a deal that realistically gives us a shot to stay competitive (meaning stop giving a very rich man a lot of money). But I think too it's going to happen.
