5 years, $50M for Campbell

If this is true, this is a big win for the Packers.

From the now updated story from Bill Huber...
According to his agent, Joe Panos, it’s a five-year deal worth $50 million. He will get $16.25 million in Year 1, $21.5 million in Year 2 and $32.25 million by Year 3.

Yassssss

That's a solid price, too, considering that it's likely backloaded somewhat. They're talking about it on NFL Network now.

Hopefully they can keep Rasul, as well. I imagine he is testing his market and will return on a 1-year deal if he doesn't find what he wants.

I'd bet there's a roster/option bonus in year 3 that creates a decision point, hence the spike in that year.

That looks right. Reported as 5 year deal, but really 2 or 3.

Keeping the defense strong is a way more important priority to win with Rodgers than "muh reSEEvers" so bringing Campbell back is huge. Now if we can get Rasul done as well, then I don't even care what happens with Davante (I'm sure they will stupidly bring him back though).

All I will want after that is a couple more guys who can add to our front seven and OL, then we should be Gucci.

16.25 + 21.50 = 37.75 or 18.88 annual, holy shemoly thats got to be about top dollar for the ILB position, this may only be a 1 yr contract, have to wait to see the guaranteed money in this one

For those struggling to catch up and figure out what happened today, so far...

Davante Adams - Won't play on the tag. Packers and him are far apart on negotiations.
Cuts - Z and Turner
De'vondre Campbell - 5 years, $50M (probably a 2-3 year deal in reality)
Preston Smith - 4 year $52.5M extension (in reality a year to year deal with sack incentives)
Rasul Douglas - Expected to sign with Packers, but who knows (they though Campbell would test free agency)
Aaron Rodgers - nada

True and the Jarvis Landry Yes/No/Maybe/Who knows. Which just seems like overkill to have Landry, Cobb, and Amari.

I think the confusion is whether he gets 21.5m "in" year 2 or "by" year 2.

If it's the latter it's more like 10m per.

I'm going nuts over the Campbell news!!! Love it SO MUCH!

A good, athletic ILB trasformed the whole damn D, and we get to keep him below tippy top money?!?

Would be so sweet if we could keep Rasul, but at least Stokes looked like a hit. The sidelines will hold.

I think it was a huge shame we never got to really see the Smiths and grown up Gary could've become. If healthy, that trio woulda wrecked!Keeping 2 of the 3 is all I can ask for.

I thank Turner for a honorable and expectations-exceeding service. But we'll have a good OL without him.

2022 Packers won't be as deep as the crazy-loaded 2021 group was, so we'll need some injury luck. But talentwise we'll contend.

It has to be "by" otherwise the numbers don't make sense. He can't make 37.75M combined in years 1 and 2 and then make 32.25M by year 3.

So he gets a big lump year 1, then averages 8M per in years 2 and 3.

He gets a lot cash money year one because he gets all the cash from the signing bonus plus salary. The first year number indicates the signing bonus is around 15M, and I'm honestly surprised the signing bonus is so low. This is an unbelievable bargain.

Cap-wise, the cap hit from the signing bonus is split over 5 years, so his first year cap hit is gonna be looow. There will be room to restructure starting year 2. The team can convert salary to signing bonus, and again split the cap impact.

Unless something happened between the game and his release, this would seem to imply we played someone who does neet meet the minimum requirement of physical fitness at LT over Nijman in the playoff game.

Very likely something did happen between the two events. Not many injuries take 3 months to heal. Unless we played him with a torn ACL, and not all the others...
