Jaire will get a 5-year $101-million extension for a 6-year, $114.2 M total deal which will pass Jalen Ramsey's 5-year $100 million extension which gave him a 6-year $113.7 million total deal to make Jaire the highest-paid CB in the league by a hair.

Would love the same, guessing it will be more for Jaire though.

Man. The AFC West looking tough.

Feel bad for Derek Carr and the Raiders.

They should almost see if they can flip Carr for some picks, target QB in 2023 draft and try again after the other 3 teams QB contracts start to deplete their team.

Just seeing a lot of mediocre 8-9 seasons in their future.

Are they positive Alexander's shoulder is good? A concern going forward for me.

I would guess it's not a worry. He played in the playoffs and its not a knee or back. The Jackson deal is cheap imo. I wish that was Jaire

Oh and I loved Jackson as a prospect coming out.

So I assume you watched said playoff game. He never had surgery. Deemed healthy and ready to go with months of rest. How did you think he looked in the SF game?

i thought he was a ghost in the playoff game. Not a bad thing for a corner. But did not look impactful.

Think about this.

Cousins hasn't won a playoff game in Minny and gets $35M.

Rodgers gets what is presumed will be over $45M next year and maybe beyond that. But he's won the NFC North how many times now and deposed several HCs.

Rodgers is being paid more. And that's good because he is two-time MVP in the last two years.

But is Cousins a good option for $35M? Yeah, he's a real good pocket passer for sure. But is he $35M-good?
with the cost to replace him the Vikes have little choice, Cousins is there best option for this coming season, Cousins is far better then people give him credit for.
I actually agree that Cousins is a good QB. He has limitations, but he also does well with deep balls. I suppose $35M is his market value, not elite, and above average. But like the Packers, the Vikes look at it like there's too much of a drop off if you let go of your QB.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

Yeah. Kirk is a strange one. Crazy he is a vet of his stature and we still kind of aren’t sure how good he is.

For anyone thinking Rodgers struggles in big games in big spotlights, good lord don’t wish for Kirk to be your QB.

I think there is a randomness to that and selective memory. Many times outside of QB control. But is what it is.

Surprised he only got a 1 year deal. Though lots of reports that Kirk's deal actually hurt the WR market and made it harder for the others. I kind of figured Chark and MVS would get something similar.

Browns releasing JC Tretter.

Pretty crazy, he started 80 consecutive games in Cleveland I just saw. Seemed to remember him being often dinged up when he was here.

If I recall, I was one of the very few who was upset at him going. Liked him a lot. Did really well in Cleveland.

Yeah, 2017 was probably the worst offseason I can remember in a long time.

We let TJ Lang and Tretter both walk, went into the season with Lane Taylor and Jahri Evans on the interior.

Cut ties with James Starks and Eddie Lacy, replaced with Ty Montgomerey.

We passed on TJ Watt, traded back and took King, also after letting Micah Hyde go, then drafting Josh Jones.

We let Jared Cook walk, and not like we didn't have money for Cook, Lang, Tretter or Hyde, because we went out and signed Martellus Bennett and Lance Kendricks and Jahri Evans.

Certainly should find a nice role in the league given his athleticism. SF should be able to make that happen given their D history. I will be rooting for him.

my brother calls Burks " wrong gap Burks" and there aint no cure for that, or in the time he's been here he would have gotten that stuff right, if not for Burks ST's ability he'd have been booted a year ago, obviously our new ST's coach was not impressed, I'am not gonna lose any sleep over his departure. :dunno:

Just kind of thinking out loud.

The NFL and the salary cap really are unique, it is really hard to compare it anything else.

Thus you can make unique decisions, that don't make sense in other parts of life.

The salary sure seems like it is going to be increasing as a ridiculous rate for the indefinite future.

So that being said, you can kind manufacture your own salary cap by allocating dollars in a somewhat consistent manor between years.

Lets just say for example you want to allocate todays dollars to future years, just tossing out some numbers, you want to borrow 25% from next years cap and 10% from two years down. If you repeat that indefinitely, you will always have a higher cap to work with than other teams. Actually could really make a lot of sense.

Rough breakdown of what I am talking about. But the faster the cap increases, the more you gain.

So it isn't like you are having to give players more money, if anything they probably like the bigger signing bonuses and lower salaries. Potential to pay players slight less.

You don't have to pay interest on borrowing money from future years. Actually the opposite, assuming the cap goes up, you actually end up paying less as a % of cap.
