From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Yes, it costs to move around. A team is going to trade up if they have a player that is left on the board that is ranked higher than anyone else. So you move to make sure you get that guy.
So in that particular case, Love was mostly likely not ranked as a low 1st round value. He was ranked high or mid. So they spent another pick and got him. Still doesn't mean that 26 and 30 aren't the same value in the minds of teams.
i think there will be more options on the board to choose from at pick 22 than I do at pick 28.
This is actually a thought based in fact.
I really dont want Watson at all in the first, but if we take him at 28, where there are less options to choose from than at pick 22, I will be able to stomach it.
I dont think my take is controversial.
I don't think it's controversial. It's also not based in fact. None of us on here have facts. The teams don't even have the facts. The draft is a living breathing thing controlled by 32 teams and countless individuals who don't communicate with each other about their plans. All having different needs/wants/opinions on the hundreds of prospects available. The only thing that is a fact, is the last team that picked and the picks that were placed before it.
not to keep this going, especially when i didnt expect my original comment to turn into a debate about value...but it is a "fact" that there are more options of players to choose from at 22 than at 28.
Because once pick 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 happens...the players selected at those spots are not available to be chosen for the 28th selection.
Watching film on the 2nd day WR prospects. Funnily the first thing that I notice is that these QBs seem to have way less time to throw than the QBs of the ones picked in 1st round.
Alec Pierce, George Pickens and Christian Watson look the part of our outside WR. Pickens needs to learn to love himself some blocking, slacked off big time there, but then makes big plays. Watson and Pierce need coaching, but honestly not that far behind say London.
Skyy Moore has the quicks we wish Amari Rodgers had... Looks little but can absorb some contact. Slot only, worthless outside.
Jalen Tolbert looks like a Packers WR2. A little slow off the line, but great at contested catches and smart with ball in his hands. YAC machine.
For a discount Olave, I like John Metchie III a LOT. Does a lot of the same things. Very smooth and crisp athlete, probably best at slot in NFL, but had success outside. Recovering from Dec ACL.
Khalil Shakir is interesting. Looks to come off the line slow and then surprises with 2nd gear to get open. But not always. Sometimes has a quick burst at the snap, so may just be smart and have a plan. Anyways, gets open often. Not WR1 but I wouldn't mind him as WR3.

Sky Moore played alot of outside what makes you say slot only?
He reminds me a little of Greg jennings - West Michigan probably effecting that a little

From what I saw, Skyy was often just a decoy when lined up outside. He's just very small, doesn't remind me of Jennings at all. Boundary corners will mug him up. Yes, he could do SOME things on the perimeter, all WRs can, like if they give him room, do the quick WR screen, or again if given space he could do some quick intermediate curls or outs. Press coverage would nullify him. But he has the prototype quick twitch for the slot or a move guy, that's why I see a better fit as a slot or Ervin 2.0.
