NFL Draft 2022 - Day 1

If their way of doing that is getting utterly fleeced in draft trades, I'm all for that... They got shorted 230 points per the old chart, equivalent of an early 3rd rounder. Haven't seen a trade that bad for a non-QB in a while. A lot of delicious purple tears shed.
Nope. Pretty much fully expecting it to happen.

Also opportunities to use multiple lower picks to move up. I think I am fine using our 3rd to move up and then using a few mid-round picks to move back into the 3rd if there is a guy they are targeting.

So all the traditionally bad teams who bought into the great WR panic of 2022 all have an interesting trait.
Marcus Marriotta
Kyle Wilson
Jared Goff
Jameis Winston
Carson Wentz
5 pretty bad QB’s I’d argue none likely to be starting on their current teams in two years, other than maybe Wilson, just cause he’s young.
Could even get toss Jalen Hurtz into that group.

good QB's don't need quality receivers, bad QB's do, got it.
If we want one of these remaining receivers we'll have to move up for one, this idea of letting them fall to us is so lame.

Panic mode set me off, we should consider the risk of not having a quality receiver to throw to, 2 of our 4 receivers havn't finished a season in two years, maybe panic mode is where we should be.
this is you again saying these receivers where over drafted, when every draft nick hinted this could happen, most big boards ( which I know are not the same as a GM board) had the top 4 top 15, and they where all gone top 12, not much of a reach if ya ask me.

So, let's look at what we would have had to do to move up to get a WR. Any move up by us would be a red flag that we are going after a receiver. I say that because the Jets, Saints, and Vikings were never going to let that happen as they wanted a receiver as well. We would have had to go up to 9 with the Seahawks to get one of the top 4. We would have had to package both 1st round picks to get there or 22, 53, and 59 (by the old chart). 22, 59, and 92 would have hit it on the buts for the Rich Hill chart to trade with Seattle. That all assumes Seattle would have traded with us. The way it ended up, they were pretty much our ONLY trade partner for us to get into the top 10. The Giants at 7 were the next team and that would have taken 22, 53, and 59 on the Rich Hill chart.
I liked those top 4 guys, but don't have the unwavering faith in them to spend that much draft capital to both up for them. I am sure 1 or 2 will work out, but which ones, I have no idea. Then in my opinion Burks and Dotson are pretty much in the safe tier as Pickens, Tolbert, Watson.

Eagles fans have issues sometimes.texas wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022 23:47Was watching the draft with an Eagles fan who generally has a good track record evaluating college players, and when they were picking, he was saying "anybody but Wyatt". He was saying he was going to leave if they picked Wyatt. They didn't pick Wyatt.
Then we picked Wyatt.
No idea about this guy, but this was kind of funny.

This is 100% false.
https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/bi ... board-2022 - The most comprehensive big board out there had Wilson at 10, London at 12, and Williams at 13.
Not one of the following big Boards had Olave, Williams, Wilson, and London in the top 15:

Well I'll be Mr. Optimist. I am very happy with the first round and I am not obsessed with getting a WR tonight either. Gutey can look for a one-dimensional receiver in the later rounds, like a true speed guy to be a vertical threat to keep the safeties back every so often. Probably could get two of them but maybe Rico "Suave" is already one of them. We add a TE, OL along with a WR and I'll be satisfied with our roster.
I say it quite often, but we had the #1 WR for the last 3 years and didn't make a SB. Maybe the WR by committee will work for us. It worked for NE a lot of times.

Or it's a tongue in cheek comment, indicating that he'll draft a TE (and no WRs).

That's an almost forgettable list of QBs. Sigh.Pckfn23 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022 23:381st Round QB Update
2013 - EJ Manuel first QB taken at 16, also only QB taken in 1st round.
2001 - Michael Vick picked #1 and only QB taken in 1st round.
2000 - Chad Pennington first QB taken at 18, also only QB taken in 1st round.
1997 - Jim Druckenmiller first QB taken at 26, also only QB taken in 1st round.
1996 - No QBs taken in 1st round.
1992 - David Klingler picked at 6, but Tommy Maddox also selected at 25.
1991 - Dan McGwire picked at 16, but Tony Marinovich also selected at 26.
1988 - No QBs taken in 1st round.
1985 - No QBs taken in 1st round.
1984 - No QBs taken in 1st round.
Every other year saw a QB taken in the top 3 and more than 1 in the first round in the last 40 1st rounds.

Yes, that would have been a pretty steep price to pay. So now we have 2 athletic speedy guys upgrading our already pretty decent defense and we can still get a good WR later on tonight.Pckfn23 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022 08:58So, let's look at what we would have had to do to move up to get a WR. Fackrell is still in the NFL. He started 9 games in 2020 for NY but was hurt last season.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022 12:28Hear, hear! Post-2010, our front office has sucked in the third outside one-year-wonder Fackrell and Richard Rodgers (jury's out on Amari and Deguara)
