I noticed he wore #1 in college. Isn't that number 'kinda' retired because it was Curly's?
Yep

I think only 14, 17, 82, 83, and 87 are available
Can't be 14. That was Don Hutson's number.

53 and 59 for 34.
Ouch

I like Watson, but that is a lot.

WR's can now have anything between 1 and 49 and 80-89.

True, I'll be surprised if any WR takes a traditional RB number though. I could maybe see 21 being taken (not in GB of course).

The Packers gave up the equivalent of the 26th Pick to get Watson.

Nice, we can still run the plays that include a WR running a CB and S deep. Even if its only thrown rarely, that opens things up. Tactically important role he should fill in nicely for right from the get go.

I wonder if they were trying to get back in last night to go get him.

The rumor is that Gute was trying to get pick 32 originally.

Which is weird because ARod claimed we only had 6 receivers with a 1st round grade. Hmm...

well we got an ILB, and WR for Davante. The DL pick was ours to begin with.
Not sure if I would have rather just drafted Watson at 28 and kept the 2 late 2s or not.
Steep price.

Watson will do well though.

LaFleur got his speed guy. Too bad he he has a hard time catching the ball. Pickens should have been the guy. But hey, maybe in a couple years Watson will “catch” on and become a decent receiver.

Career drop rates
George Pickens: 2.1%
Skyy Moore: 3.3%
Chris Olave: 4.7%
Jahan Dotson: 5.1%
Drake London: 5.7
Alec Pierce: 6.4%
Garrett Wilson: 6.8%
Justyn Ross: 7.1%
Treylon Burks: 7.4%
Jameson Williams: 7.7%
Jalen Tolbert: 8.4%
Christian Watson: 12.7%
Love is the answer…

Rodgers will be far and away the best QB Watson has had. Even the Trey Lance year or so weren't great. They were a running team. I expect those numbers are bigger due to style of play and who was throwing.

i would have rather kept the current 2, moved up to mid round with a 3 or 4 and drafted Pickens

I seriously wonder if Pickens was even on their draft board. The guy has red flags.

Its hard to say. They brought in a lot of guys with character flags. We drafted 1 in Wyatt. You never know who checks out and who doesn't, unless they get drafted by us.

Who cares?

If Watson is their guy and Watson plays like they think he can play....we won't complain in the slightest we picked him or "value"

I was in a Minneapolis sculpture garden, forgetting that I'm in a different time zone than normal and that night two had already started when I got the news. My good friend (and weekend wedding date) cares not at all about football. I got the the NFL app push notification that we traded up for Watson.

My friend is now well-versed in terms like "upside" and the nature of draft pick trades and values and the excitement that a list of names over three days can provide.

Just listened to his conference call and Milt Hendrickson's brief presser. Love this kid.
