2022 Draft Discussion

I just want guys who have performed on big stages before. I dont like these guys that get tight when the lights get bright because they played in front of 10k people in college. I thought Amari would have been more ready due to his pedigree at Clemson, but im confident these UGA boys wont be spooked by the moment.
It does seem Gute in general has gravitated toward the big programs...not always, but often. I like that.
The Packers have what 2?? guys on the roster who have won a SB...Rodgers and Crosby?? Maybe im missing some guys.
What about college football national championships?? Really not sure.
I hope we bring in a vet just for the sole purpose of having someone who has been there and won that ring. Idc if he can play or not. I want him to show off that ring and show the boys how to prepare in the playoffs. Lafleur and Rodgers are not doing that adequately currently.

In the pressers they talked a lot about championship programs, with the three UGA first rounders in the past two years and also talking up the NDSU program building people who know how to win (Ross Uglem, who is both a Packers and a NDSU Bison beat reporter, talked about how Watson's football character developed throughout his time there, in some podcast I listened to).Drj820 wrote: ↑05 May 2022 20:18I just want guys who have performed on big stages before. Chris Harris, Jr? 32 years old; won the Super Bowl with the Broncos in 2015. Multiple Pro Bowls in the past. Primarily a nickel guy. Likely has the smarts/intelligence to moonlight as a safety in a pinch (sounds like he learned some in L.A. last year). Played 14 games for Brandon Staley's Chargers last yearDrj820 wrote: ↑05 May 2022 20:18I hope we bring in a vet just for the sole purpose of having someone who has been there and won that ring. Man, you described a type; I went looking. I thought about it, I watched one interview with the guy about his impending free agency--said he is waiting for the right spot, being patient, can be a nickel/safety/corner, emergency guy, help young guys develop, anything they want....Drj820 wrote: ↑05 May 2022 21:47sounds like he fits the bill to me, great option!YoHoChecko wrote: ↑05 May 2022 21:45Chris Harris, Jr? 32 years old; won the Super Bowl with the Broncos in 2015. Soooo yeah we've talked me into this. This is the right fit. I'm 100% onboard
You did some good homework. We are blessed to have you on the forum!YoHoChecko wrote: ↑05 May 2022 21:51Man, you described a type; I went looking. Okay, $%@# whoever McGinn's scouts are, lol. Classic case of how when everyone you meet is an asshole, you're the asshole.
“Most other nations don't allow a terrorist to be their leader.”
“... Yet so many allow their leaders to be terrorists.”—Magneto
“... Yet so many allow their leaders to be terrorists.”—Magneto
I don't believe anyone actually speaks that way. He is piecing together bits here and there to form a picture what he wants to convey, overall positive or overall negative. Mostly negative. I would love to see the actual, full quotes.

It's mostly about young QBs, but the last 3-4 minutes gets into Chris Harris, himself. At 10:00 minutes he's asked about what he's looking for in free agency. When the guy is self aware of where his career is and what his role is likely to be "be an emergency guy capable of stepping in and playing any position," "help educate these guys on and off the field," like, that really gives me hope that the signing could actually be possible. He won't be dissuaded by our strong starters.
Also, is there a different thread I should be posting this in? It's not Packers news yet; it's not about the draft; it's just packers thoughts and speculation.

agreed, Bob uses scouts with the most negative slants or opinions he endorses himself, seems Bob is holding some sort of grudge
Co-sign pending cost. I have always really respected his game. He doesn't have the length we typically appreciate, but the guy has been a classic case of just get it done throughout his entire career.Drj820 wrote: ↑05 May 2022 22:05You did some good homework. Not even an emergency guy for sure, we have an unbelievably strong top 5, and unbelievably empty 6+.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑06 May 2022 10:09When the guy is self aware of where his career is and what his role is likely to be "be an emergency guy capable of stepping in and playing any position," "help educate these guys on and off the field," like, that really gives me hope that the signing could actually be possible. He is immediately the #6 guy, getting dime snaps, and the odds of all 5 guys staying healthy are next to nill.
Guy is a 3x all pro and a Super Bowl champion.
Aaron and Mason are the only guys I am aware of who have rings. I always think you want a few of those guys in January who have been there, done that.
Everyone of the handful here seem to hate this McGinn guy. Not sure why his opinions keep showing up. To me he makes some good points and bad points. Just like everyone.
Danny Etling with the Pats and Sammy Watkins with the Chiefs.

Which is why we need one on defense
De'Vondre Campbell with the Falcons in 2017.
Oh wait...
Maybe it's because McGinn use to be a respected beat writer for the Packers for over 30 years, but has been overtly critical ever since Ted drafted Rodgers, imho ever since then Bob seems to hold a grudge.Realist wrote: ↑06 May 2022 12:17Everyone of the handful here seem to hate this McGinn guy. please show some of the good things Bob has said about the Packers, it would be great to read anything positive from Bob McGinn

It's still disgusting that the Cowboys had to poach Herb Adderley and Forrest Gregg from the Packers to win their 1st championship. 1971. No class whatsoever.
