I find it extra hilarious that the new guy is questioning YoHoChecko of all people's knowledge and fanhood!

i wouldnt judge his job performance based off a May presser where he got asked a bunch of questions he cant answer freely.
The problem most had with he said is(And I see you had issue with it also): "It seems Tom Clements just doesn't give AF."

Rather than admitting he was was way off base and didn't follow the Packers closely when Tom was originally in Green Bay, he chooses to cry about someone exposing the fact that he wasn't aware of Tom Clements high standing with Packers players, fans, and coaches, of both past and present. Tom said he is here to win another Lombardi. He has one ring with the Packers already. It is great that his goal is to help this team get another World Championship. Yes, he is close with Aaron. Aaron likes to he coached, believe it or not. And even MVP level QBs like to be pushed a little bit. Aaron misses the way Tom Clements coaches. Luke Getsy never challenged or pushed Aaron. Tom Clements has in the past and will again. Tom of course will challenge and push J-Love as well. All positives here. Nothing negative to see or imply here.

Some get so angry when others have more knowledge and history with the Packers than they do. It's actually really silly.

Just apologize for being way off base with a comment about Tom and move on. All a part of growing up.

Also, at what age do you stop thinking it's cool to SAY you smoke weed? I have zero issue with smoking bud, but never would bring it up in this format. Immaturity is never a good look.
Has anybody ever mentioned to you that you come off as a passive-aggressive antagonist? Or even a condescending $%@#?

Don't be offended, I'm just asking the question. I suppose being old may somehow insulate you from self-fulfilling language traps like you seem to create and it totally isn't your fault being oblivious to your own obnoxiousness. At least in a relative conscious sense.

Again, don't be offended. I'm just offering an observation.

I do appreciate the support, but honestly, this thread isn't and shouldn't be about me or how old I am/aren't and how cool I am/aren't or how informed I am.

I just watch all the Packers pressers and wanted a spot to post the videos and share some observations. One such observation has garnered more attention than I gave it, even when I made the observation itself.

You can also talk about how stoked Vrabel is about his receiver room or how Jerry Montgomery perfectly balances the line of hard coaching and player respect in a way that converts his players to acolytes. Or about how composed and informative Jerry Gray is and his take on our nickel position is that they have 5 guys who can play it and all of them will and all of them want to because they like the action.

It's all good stuff, and when OTAs hit next week, there will be more good stuff, all right here in this thread.

And I'll sit at home, in Maryland, without any personal knowledge of any of these men, and I will make more observations about what they say, based on almost no information. Because I'm just a guy at home watching press conferences. And people are free to discuss those observations or tell me they know better because they probably will; because Green Bay is small and I bet people who have lived int he area have far more forms of exposure to the coaches and players than I ever will.

Just like when people sitting at home watching press conferences complain about Pete Carroll, who I worked adjacent to at USC, and Bill Bellichick, who was a regular at Annapolis Touchdown Club meetings I attended with my father and who attended my father's funeral, I provide insights about those guys' personalities that others may not know. But those insights don't mean BB did or didn't cheat at football or on his wife (he did). And it doesn't mean Pete Carroll isn't annoying. It doesn't mean the people making their own observations don't know football or aren't real fans. It just means we have different perspectives and sources of information and we're all sitting around watching from home making observations and sharing opinions about them.

Because this is a football forum full of opinions. And I'm happy to share mine and be wrong sometimes and be right sometimes and be inconsistent with that I think from one year to the next sometimes. :idn:

Omg, see?? More good stuff!12 minutes from MLF on OTAs.

Ok, but actually, not much good stuff here.

Rodgers isn't here and doesn't need to be. Bakh's working hard. The rookies are getting up to speed. Typical OTA coach stuff.

I like the assistants more this time of year because they get so fired up about individual guys they're coaching or because they have their little pet projects and coach-isms they like to share.

It is interesting hearing that today, day 2 of OTAs, the team is still doing install stuff that is reviewing what happened in rookie minicamp but tomorrow they get more stuff piled on and will see how they react.

People keep asking where Sammy Watkins is mentally and it seems weird since I haven't heard anything new or negative on that front about him for like 3-4 years. I know he was a headcase who almost drank himself out of the league causing him to get traded from his rookie contract, but, like, KC praised his maturity, Baltimore praised his maturity, and Vrabel here talked about his maturity as a married, father of 3, family man now.

Am I missing something? Legit question. Just seems like the reporters are sniffing around.

I jumped the gun on no good info....

Joint practices with the Saints leading into preseason week 2. I'm pretty stoked to have Olave and Christian Watson in the same camp and see what the reporters observe from that, but that's my own nit to pick, since it's my go-to rookie preference on our team, and the guy I slagged the most in the class on their team.

Clements was here from 2006-2016 so really you don't have to be even remotely old to remember him. It's weird that age came up.

Now if we are talking Fritz Shurmur or Sherm Lewis... You probably need to be pushing 40 or older to really remember them.

This is the second presser I've heard from Clements and not sounding any alarms or anything, but this guy really strikes me as a guy who was talked out of retirement against his better judgments. He just doesn't seem to give af. Obviously, Rodgers just needs a steady hand and trusted voice, and he does say he's working the old "QB School" fundamentals for the young guys, so maybe it'll help Love, but boy, he seems half checked out. Maybe that's just his media persona.
OMG!!!! It's just a press conference!! How can you possibly ascertain that?!?

Are you new to footbaw?!?!!!

For me it's that I've become more invested in watching press conferences myself rather than reading a lot of beat writers' quotes from them. Mostly that's because the beat writers rotated a lot in those years (it's been pretty steady for a while) and my favorites (Wes Hod and Tyler Dunne) left or started working for the team.

As the son of a sports writer, I found a LOT to dislike about the way the beat writing was going here and around the league. There seemed to be very little in source development and insider insights, and a ton of just a collection of press conference quotes. So instead of hopping around to 6 different sites chasing columns and articles, I can just pop to one place, watch the videos myself, and get my own sense of people. I didn't start that for a while, so I don't have many/any memories of Clements' press demeanor. He wasn't on the staff yet when I was at the combine with the Packers in 2005, so I never met him or got any insights that way. I never bothered, never cared. I doubt many people did, honestly.

YoHo, I got the same feel but I took it as Clements just not liking to do press conferences. Oh BTW I've been a fan since '64 and I watched Clements at ND, but i didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Someone above thinks calling me old offended me. Haha. I take it as a compliment.

I'm 51, and every year is bought and paid for. Love the wisdom and knowledge my experience in life has brought.

Been on this earth 51 years and a Packers fan every one of them. My earliest memories are of being 3 years old and watching Packers games with my father. My first time in Lambeau was at 6. First Packers game at County Stadium at 8. My dad passed away 7 years ago and left his 4 season tickets to me. They have never been cheap, but worth of every penny every year. Every game I go to he is with me like he always was.

I have no ill will against the person that wrongly accused Tom Clements of not giving AF. I merely let it be known that he was indeed wrong and way off base. Would do it again.

If some here want to slam me for defending a great Packers coach and man, then so be it. I will not apologize for it.

I

Since Tom left only a few players are still here, this is a whole new team , and Yoho hit the nail on the head when he said Tom acted dis interested, I thought when he first started talking that he had stolen Yoho's stash, droopy eyes, the mumbling, those are signs of a stoner, which I'am proud to be one, how mature is it to drink booze? and what exactly is the difference between the two?

I played in the fields where Lambeau is built, and attended my first game at old city Stadium before I was 5, does that make me a better fan, or more knowledgeable? I actually think I was smarter when I was young like you, now I have to look everything up to verify what I think I know, course the one good thing about growing old is there comes a time when no one listens to ya anyway, so just how important is it to be balls on accurate :idn:

my point is unless you have insider info ( and Leonard the assistant grounds keeper is not insider people) then ya don't really know anything for certain, yes Clements is a very good QB Guru, thats it, thats basically all we know, the rest is speculation and opinionized.

Who said anything about drinking being better than weed? Haha. No one that I saw.

Who said it's the same team as when Tom was here before? What does it being a whole new team have to do with anything?

Most of your post is complete drivel just wanting to stick up for the person that said Tom Clements doesn't give a fk. Knock yourself out.

Have a great night.

What a very weird thing to harp on for multiple posts.

Yoho been with us a very very long time. I would wager just about anything Yoho been following the Packers way closer than you the past decade here with us.

well your the one who said marihuana users are immature, so how mature are alcohol users, you can't even remember the BS you spill.

and then all this bragging about being a life long Packer fan as though members here are not, and Yoho and others here know as much or more then you concerning everything Packers, so please spare us your condescending attitude

again, do you know Clements personally? we've had a lot of very good coaches over the years, Tom is simply one of them, also the only person that wanted to bring Tom Back was Rodgers, just as with Cobb last year, It's the now annual Rodgers power move, next year it'll be Leroy Butler, or Robinson the WR coach that was here when he started, who knows, you act as though bringing Clements back had real meaning, the only meaning was Gute pacifying Rodgers.

Tom Clements high standing with Packers players, fans, and coaches, of both past and present.

seriously, what the hell does the past players and coaches have to do with any of this, as I said only a couple players remain from when he was here and the same with the coaches, Clements is basically a stranger now, if not for Rodgers he'd still be retired.

I notice that you struggle with reading and comprehension. I would suggest working on that.

I actually said I have no issue with smoking bud. The immature part is proclaiming publicly on Packers fan forum that you are "out of weed" is the immature part. If you don't think so then perhaps you also have some growing up to do.

On your Aaron Rodgers hate with talking about him making "power moves" is utterly ignorant. Yes, Aaron wanted Tom Clements back, because he likes to be coached and challenged. LaFleur interviewed Tom and loved him just like everyone else does. Tom is the type of QB coach Aaron wants and needs. The Packers haven't been able to get over the hump the last few years. Perhaps Tom Clements can help Aaron and the rest of the offense get over that hump this year. That is why he is back. He has done it before and has the ring to prove it. He also obviously will be a huge help in J-Love's development.

I'am all done growing up idiot and this is a forum where members joke with one another, and about many subjects.

and here you are again acting as though you know what players want, so unless you can prove insider knowledge of this it's simply your opinion, and you know the correlation of opinions and and a certain bodily part, everyone has one.

what would you expect Lafluer to say, your confusion here is that the team, Lafluer, Guteknunst wanted Tom Clements back, there are article that attest that Rodgers was the main driver to bring Tom back, and Rodgers sure as hell doesn't need a QB coach, are you 51 or 11 years old, seriously anyone that thinks Rodgers needs a QB coach should do some drugs, what Rodgers has needed is a influx of talent at the WR position.

Clements is here to pacify Rodgers, and thats about it, sure he'll help Lafluer with Love, but this was all about Rodgers.

Again, you are having issues with reading and comprehension. I am very serious when I say you should work on that. I honestly am not cutting on you, but trying to help. In life we are always working on things and evolving. Successful people always keep striving to become better each and every day. I am 51 and still work daily on always making myself better. Success comes through hard work and always striving for more and to be better.

Even MVP level QBs are always trying to evolve their game and get better. Believe or not, yes, Aaron likes to be pushed and coached. Luke Getsy was not a QB coach that did that for Aaron. Aaron missed the way Tom coaches and yes, called him and asked his thoughts on coming back.

If you think no one is happy about Tom Clements being in the building except for Aaron then you would be wrong. Tom Clements makes the coaching staff stronger. Luke Getsy did not. Good luck Chicago.

I understood what you said, and it's foolish, Rodgers was a repeat MVP under Getsy, any quality NFL coach will help any coaching staff, so for you to think Clements was a super duper hire is insane, we needed a QB coach after Getsy left to become OC for the Bears, Rodgers called up his old coach and talked him into coming back, thats it, you made a big deal about something very trivial, and put down everyone here when they wouldn't agree with your opinion, including Getsy who helped orchestrate the best offense in the league.

Has anyone ever offered a OC job to Clements, has he ever produced a MVP QB besides Rodgers whos God given talent far exceeds almost every other QB in the history of the league, seriously you are so over matched against members of this forum as to football knowledge, course we all knew that in April when you attempted to convince us that the team couldn't do without Olave

I'am almost 75 yrs old, and the first to admit that I'am not the sharpest knife in the rack, but you sure as &%$@ have nothing on me :rotf:
