Really? I thought he wasn't all that big to begin with...YoHoChecko wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 16:43Amari Rodgers says he lost 6 pounds and 4% body fat this offseason.
Many people around this board indicated that was a wise path for him to take; I guess he and the team agreed

4% body fat is a lot for a conditioned athlete, 6 lbs, not so much, He just looked slow at everything last year, a lot of it imo had to do with thinking to much versus just reacting and using his god given instincts and skills, I remember a couple receptions he was decisive and quick in and out of his breaks and got good yardage, hopefully we see a lot more of that.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 16:43Amari Rodgers says he lost 6 pounds and 4% body fat this offseason.

I think he played his position fine. Makes it known publicly he wants a long-term deal without saying so. Can train on his own and not be subject to any workout stipulations that the Packers may enforce. Doesn't subject himself to injury in OTA's or mandatory minicamp and, most importantly for him, cannot be fined for not attending. I think he'll sign and be there for Day 1 of training camp having accomplished what he set out to do. We all want 100% attendance at these things, but I just don't think it really matters for a guy like Lazard who has been in the system for 3 seasons now.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 12:28It's wild, right? Honestly,. if I'm him, I don't want a contract right now. Given the opportunity, he has a good chance at a career high in volume stats this year. His tender isn't necessarily small potatoes ($4 M). He could bet on himself this year.

I don't see it like that at all, his tender is 4 mil. he didn't get a long term deal because he is not in the long term plans, and he's holding out because he wanted a few mil. more, and wanted to entertain offers that might produce that.NCF wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 08:38I think he played his position fine. when ya look at our receiver position last year with injury to MVS and Cobb, Winfray also for a few games, our number two by default was Lazard, so his 600 yrds where due to simply being able to play.
Interesting dilemma for Lazard: On one hand, the team is short on WRs, so the time to push for money is now.Yoop wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 08:45I don't see it like that at all, his tender is 4 mil. he didn't get a long term deal because he is not in the long term plans, and he's holding out because he wanted a few mil. more, and wanted to entertain offers that might produce that.NCF wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 08:38I think he played his position fine. But also, he's a replaceable possession receiver who is great at blocking. I don't think that's enough blackmail potential for a long-term deal. I LOVE Lazard on my team, but not at any cost.
If I were him, I really, really wouldn't hold out now. He isn't going to get an opportunity to shine more anywhere else in the league.
If Lazard were to hurt himself while he’s out on his own he could be SOL. But anyways, ya not being there is NBD, but if it’s some sort of hold out for a new deal or more money, my position remains the same...have more than 6 receiving yards in your last outing if you want to be in a proper position to negotiate.
Any leverage Lazard has is due to Packer WR room desperation, it has nothing to do with Lazard deserving more than 4m.
Lazard should have an epic year and then get paid an epic amount of money, he certainly did not have that epic “pay me now” type year last year.

my thoughts as well, his one day hold out if ya can even call it that was to show other teams he'd accept offers, doesn't sound like he got any, and now it sounds like he'll sign the tender, but we just drafted 3 WR and signed Watkins, imo this is Lazards last year as a Packer.salmar80 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 09:31Interesting dilemma for Lazard: On one hand, the team is short on WRs, so the time to push for money is now.Yoop wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 08:45I don't see it like that at all, his tender is 4 mil. he didn't get a long term deal because he is not in the long term plans, and he's holding out because he wanted a few mil. more, and wanted to entertain offers that might produce that.NCF wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 08:38

and this has nothing to do with liking or disliking Lazard, great team mate, or not, his ability to block has also been replaced, Watson is a notoriously great blocking WR too, is just about the same size with a ton more athletic ability, anyone that thinks Lazard is going to keep W2 on the bench is kidding themselves.
This is how little sympathy I have for Lazard if he is playing some weird game of hard ball:
Aaron Jones made 2.2milion in his 4th year, played out his full deal, never held out.
Jones made about 3.8 million total in his first four years.
Lazard is set to make 3.98m this year, the year before he is free to negotiate a new deal. Almost double what Jones made the year before he could negotiate.
Jones should smack Lazard for his silliness when he finally shows up to town.

I don't fault Lazard for playing his hand, this is probably his best chance ever to do so, didn't seem to work, so now he'll sign the tender.Drj820 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 09:48This is how little sympathy I have for Lazard if he is playing some weird game of hard ball:

You have to, at least, be factual about this. Lazard played out his full deal, too. Lazard is not holding out. He is not under contract. He can do whatever the $%@# he pleases.Drj820 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 09:48This is how little sympathy I have for Lazard if he is playing some weird game of hard ball:

I still really haven’t seen any indication of Lazard holding out.
Players miss time for a myriad of reasons. Certainly could be a holdout. But I’ll just wait on posting my 8th hit piece on the topic till I actually see something.

NO! Drama must be started!

I don't often agree with Aaron Nagler, but he summarizes this situation well, IMO. Not only that, but I was not aware of the quote from Lazard, himself, that said he will be here for the start of training camp (as most of us have already suggested).

He isn't staying away so he can walk in come TC, he's staying away to show other GM's that he is ripe for the plucking and it probably wont take 4 mil. to sign him as long as he can get a multi year deal, which isn't in the works here, and if he waits till TC I doubt he even makes this team.
people have Lazard so over valued it's mind boggling, I listened quietly as folks bragged about his blocking ( as though that is a impossible art to learn), and this stuff about possession receiver too, thats our problem, after Adams and Cobb all we have are possession receivers, seriously my ears ache listening to all this defense for a receiver that had to be force fed the ball simply because our WR room has been so putrid, and if not so bad off I doubt we'd offered him that tender.

Other teams can't sign him unless they give a 2nd rounder to us.
Lazard not signing his tender yet has nothing to do with "showing off" to other GMs.
What over value are people placing on Lazard? What defense has been listened to? I think it has more to do with some being overly sensitive and blowing things out of proportion much more thank over valuing Lazard or even defending him. In reality I don't see any of that here.
He'll sign his tender soon. Come to TC. Play WR for the Packers and what will be, will be. Let's not make a mountain out of a mole hill here.

he obviously did it because he was putting up a small effort to get a long term deal. I am just scolding him for making that small effort considering he contributed 6 yards in his last game as a Packer.Pckfn23 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 11:22Other teams can't sign him unless they give a 2nd rounder to us.

I am glad you are boiling this all down to 1 game. I am also glad we gave Aaron Rodgers that large extension for putting up 225 yards and 0 TDs in his last game! It looks like small efforts get Packers' players long term deals!Drj820 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 11:27he obviously did it because he was putting up a small effort to get a long term deal. Rodgers won MVP last season. Lazard has never caught more than 515 yards in a season. Players who lack an accumulation of gawdy stats certainly operate in a "what have you done for me lately" space when they want to get themselves a long term deal.Pckfn23 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022 11:33I am glad you are boiling this all down to 1 game. So you do see why boiling it all down to 1 game is asinine?
