I hope y'all know I love it here. I rag lupe all the time, but I'm so glad he's back. I argue with yoop and drj all around the place, but I'm doing so in good fun. Value everyone's contributions and am super glad to have Packer/football discussion outlets, especially since working from home started and my work-sports friends aren't around just shooting the breeze anymore (they're Ravens/Commies fans anyway). I know sometimes it seems like I'm a serious stick in the mud, but I'm actually a jovial social butterfly and partier with friends who mostly don't give AF about sports. My written tone is not my personality. (I do love to argue vehemently irl, though; that part is real)
Just wanted to let you know that I actually pay attention to what you say. Your insight into the game and players is far better than most others.

TE David Njoku gets a 4-year $56.75 million contract to replace the franchise tag he was on. Per PFT, the deal includes $28 million in guaranteed money.

Sounds like a lot to me for a guy averaging 27 yds/game, and 3 tds/season during his career... :idn:

If Big Bob has a season resembling 2020, he'll be hella expensive to keep.
Really no comparison between Bob and Njoku from an athletic standpoint. Bob could never command that much money. And not sure I would pay Njoku that much but I would to see the numbers he could put up here when we had Adams.

Njoku is an anomoly of sorts. Never really produced but everyone sees the potential due to his measurables. It looks like an overpay to me, but it has absolutely 0 affect on a future Tonyan contract unless Tonyan himself can produce in 2022. Njoku was a first round pick and is still living off that possibility of potential. Tonyan is an UDFA whose production will earn him a check, not his body type.

the higher the pick, typically the more athletic and ready to play at this level the guy is, after a few seasons in the pros these things often even themselves up, Tonyan may never be as athletic as Njoku, but in terms of production so much is team and scheme dependent, Bob caught just about everything thrown his way 2 years ago, if he regains the athletic ability he had then I don't see any reason for a production decline, imo draft slotting means very little a few years after that draft, I expect Tonyan to have a big year.

I don't want to stir a hornets' nest here but...
Spoiler
Bob Tonyan and David Njoku have fairly similar athleticism based on testing :idn:

Wow, sounds like Cooper Kupp just signed a deal that's 3 new years and $75M in new money for a new money/new years average of $25M.

Given that he had 2 years and $29.5M left on his previous deal, that's a 5-year $105 million deal--an absolute BARGAIN for that kind of production. He's making $8 M less per year than Adams and Tyreek. For reference, that's Cooper Kupp and Leonard Floyd for Adams or Tyreek, financially. In Packers terms, that's Adrian Amos.

I would just say I believe the 75million guaranteed attached to Kupps deal is higher than both Hills and Adams guarantee

Surprised no discussion about the latest allegations against Watson from the 24th woman. Jim Rome devoted a full hour to it earlier this week. This has a lot of implications in the AFC, and possibly even the NFC because it will influence what the Browns do with Baker. Watson will surely be suspended at least 6 games, and he should get the entire season (at least). The court cases will keep piling on and be a distraction for the Browns and league office.

Makes sense. I’m starting to think Benkhert is better than Love.

Well yes, but more so he'd rather play with his best friend for 5 years than Rodgers for maybe 1, maybe 2, and then.... :idn:

Based on preseason, he is.

Adams played with Love in KC. He knows Love sucks.

Driver and Jennings played with Rodgers when he sucked. Sometimes it gets better.

Sometimes, yes.

But cmon....Adams comments were quite damning.

I don't get it, truly.

Like Adams definitely prefers playing with Carr than Love. He definitely thinks his career is better served with Carr than Love. I agree with you. But how damning is that? A 2nd-year with 1 start versus a guy who is in the league's top ten conversation? Absolutely.

Like I'm feeling pretty pessimistic on Love these days, but "I prefer Derrick Carr, my college QB and best friend, a top 10-12 QB in the league, over a completely unproven Jordan Love after two years?" This is not revelatory information. You'd be nuts not to think Carr is a safer route to stats at this point.
