Percent of vote the winner got will be in parenthesis, position change vs. 2019 will be in brackets.

Here's how this works:

Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll.

Simply voting is not enough!

Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 10 guys, a new player is added to the list each day).

Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

Mercedes Lewis is likely to get the most snaps out of everyone else on the board, barring injury.

Josiah Deguara. The GM picked him in the third round for a reason, and that reason certainly doesn't include sitting on the bench. If the offense is going to have a different look, Deguara is one of the players that will bring it about.

I think the CB who comes off the bench when King or Alexander are hurt is going to be the snaps leader of this remaining bunch. Deguara and Lewis will pillage each other's snaps. Keke is part of a rotation.

The question is: who is that guy? I think it's Hollman.

I think Deguara will have more snaps than Lewis.

I think he starts out as FB with a small move TE workload and they increase it as the season goes on. Plus I expect him to be a core STer.

I think Hollman is going to challenge for the #3 spot. But I think I'm the only one that thinks that.

Let's dig into TE snap counts is a hypothetical way by mapping last year's onto this year; totally not how it actually works, but maybe worthwhile and at least kills some time.

Last year, TE snap counts looked like this:
image.png
image.png (6.86 KiB) Viewed 490 times
We also had Vitale at FB with 170' so that's 1,544 snaps for 5 TEs and a FB last year. Barring significant injury depletion, I anticipate the vast majority of those snaps will come from our top 4 TEs this year.

So let's say Sternberger gets all of Graham's. Tonyan gets all of his own and Sternberger's from the prior year. Deguara gets all of Vitale's and all of Evan Baylis'.

That leaves us with:
622 for Sterny
487 for Lewis
243 for Tonyan
182 for Deguara

The question that we now must ask is: will Lewis and/or Tonyan maintain his snaps from last year? Or will some combination of Tonyan and Deguara cut into those snaps? I think even if Lewis cuts back a little, Deguara's snaps are more likely to come out of Tonyan's pool than Lewis', leaving it likely that yes, Lewis is probably going to be on the field for more snaps than our rookie TE, even if our rookie TE gets himself 300 or so like Foster Moreau last year. However, he will be almost entirely a blocking TE, as he was last year, versus a more versatile blocker and catcher that the rookie may be.

I'd predict something along the lines of
600 for Sterny
400 for Lewis
325 for Deguara
175 for Tonyan
1,500 for the TEs

Too much speed and agility to burn on the bench so I'm going Ka'dar Hollman. A new DB Coach is more likely to give the kid a long look.

I agree, a lot more. Lewis very well may not make the 53. The man is 36 years old and has been a plodder for several seasons. He has decent hands and made a contribution last season as an outlet receiver after blocking his man. But he is very limited in what he can do and Josiah Deguara can do everything he can do better. If the Packers are going to take advantage of Jones and Dillon's speed, they need Deguara blocking rather than Lewis.

Lewis can't make the downfield catch like this

Lewis has a role; he's a strong blocking TE and we are gonna pound the run on offense. Plus, by all accounts, he's a very positive locker-room presence. I don't see us cutting him.

With that said, a guy who's strictly a blocking specialist and "spiritual leader" is a niche player not to be ranked this high. I go with the upside here. Deguara offers way more to the offense and has solid blocking skills himself anyway.

Hollman is also on my radar here -- unlikely that our starting CBs will not miss any time, Hollman seems like he has the ability to step in and do a pretty good job.

I would've voted for Keke, but the forum won't let me vote! Was the poll closed?

Not understanding a Ka’dar Holman vote.

The guy has 4 defensive snaps last year and didn’t record a statistic.

He’s a 6th round pick who didn’t show enough to earn time on the field when healthy and also showed concerns about availability.

Plus he is already 25.

Not like we are deep at the position, but gotta say I don’t expect him to make the roster.

I'm with you. I'm not overly bullish on his prospects. I think Josh Jackson and Chandon Sullivan still get first crack at playing time over him.

small school Hollman needed some coaching up, that he didn't get a combine invite hurt his draft status imo, has the unteachable stuff, speed and wd-40 hips, kids a 6th round steal.

Ka'Dar Hollman Draft profile
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/ka'dar-ho ... 10e1d10425

Destroyed his pro day with 4.39-second 40-yard dash, 38-inch vertical and 6.81 3-cone

Will be a 25-year old rookie

We all saw the results on the field throughout preseason.

We knew: Elgton Jenkins was a better football player than Lane Taylor. It was clear. However, MLF went a different direction:
Matt LaFleur wrote:Elgton will be suited up as an emergency fill in, but for the most part, we've done the necessary work. It's going to be a competition throughout the season, but right now Lane Taylor is the starter
Matt LaFleur wrote:I just think it’s a comfort factor. You’ve got an experienced player. I think Elgton is a guy that’s got a lot to learn but I think there’s a lot to like about Elgton. I think he’s got a bright future.
MLF praises competition; in practice and in preseason, he let the play on the field do the talking. But when it came time to distribute regular season playing time, MLF prefers experience.

***********************************************************************************************
Matt LaFleur wrote:Ka’dar’s done a nice job. He challenges our receivers each and every day. He’s not afraid to get up there and bump ’em. So he’s made some nice plays. Again, a young player. It’ll be interesting to once we get to real, live game situations and see how he responds, but I’m excited about him.
Sounds a little familiar. MLF doesn't like playing rookies when he doesn't have to. Josiah Deguara? He's a rookie. Ka'Dar Hollman? Well, he WAS a rookie.
Mike Pettine wrote:I like Ka’dar. He’s intense, you can tell he loves football. He’s a guy that’s been real good at the press man aspect of it. He’s had practices where you really have to go back and look to see if a ball got caught on him. He’s done a good job.
Jason Simmons, Secondary coach wrote:He’s continually improved. Ka’dar is willing to learn. He takes hard coaching. That’s what he responds to. He wants hard coaching and he wants to be a good player.
Avery Duncan, Clutch Points wrote:It doesn’t matter when you’re drafted; it matters how you perform when cleats hit the gridiron. That’s all too true for Green Bay Packers cornerback Ka’Dar Hollman, who was taken in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. So far, he’s playing above his draft status.
Zach Kruse wrote:Rookie cornerback Ka’dar Hollman has been one of the early surprises of Green Bay Packers training camp
We’ve heard plenty about the early-round draft picks, such as Rashan Gary, Darnell Savage, and Elgton Jenkins – and rightfully so – however, the biggest surprise so far may be the sixth-round pick, Ka’dar Hollman out of Toledo.

With 4.39 speed, a 38″ vertical, and a fiery, in your face competitor, Hollman caught the eye of the coaching staff back in OTAs and has been able to carry that momentum over into Training Camp and into the preseason.

Hollman has been consistently winning his one-on-one battles in practice and with injuries to Kevin King and Josh Jackson, he’s been running with the first and second team defenses. So those victories of his are coming against Green Bay’s better offensive players.
Hollman didn't see the field much as a rookie. There's a comfort level, right? With experienced players. But when they get the chance... when they hit the field, they may be the better player. They may be a surprise.

Ka'Dar Hollman proved last summer that he belongs. This year, he's a player with some experience. There's a comfort level there. He's going to get his chance.

There's this one dude on NFL Newtwork trying to slam home that Jordan Love will be a very impactful rookie if you weigh it by the "fire under Aaron Rodgers"/"chip on his shoulder" factor that will elevate Rodgers to his previous highs in gameplay.

Other than that defense, I don't see it; he's probably the 3rd strong QB for his rookie year. He's a guy who needs a lot of work and isn't getting an in-person offseason to really dig into it. I think his on-field impact in 2020 will be 0, unless we're 3-8 down the stretch and Rodgers tweaks his shoulder and so we shelve him.

Regular spot duty backup? I bet on Boyle.
