Any word on whether or not he's participating in voluntary OTAs this week? Be sorta funny to skip the mandatory stuff, sign up and do a voluntary week, but it's also, I believe, the last action before training camp. Would be nice to get himself acquainted with the room, haha

Jacobi has been vocal about wanting a new deal. Probably just the time both guys gave up their fight to get one.

The significant date, I believe, is June 16th--when teams can reduce any unsigned restricted tender offered to the minimum restricted free agent tender. I'm guessing the significance is just that it's the Monday of the last week to get it done with no risk of a reduced tender (it's highly unlikely the Packers would do that, as that would tick him off and make him less likely to sign, but the only recourse at that point is to sit out unsigned) but it matters enough that guys are going to sign this week.
Lazard is such an interesting WR, not your traditional WR by any means and certainly not a traditional # 1
But he makes it work.
One of Alan's hallmark plays was vs the Rams in the 2020 playoffs - DB is playing off coverage and at the snap of the ball, Lazard goes right at him. CB peeks in backfield, sees the run action and this 6'5 230lb dude coming to block his arse yet again.
Only to watch Lazard run right by him for a huge 58 yd TD play.

There are any number of ways to beat a CB, Lazard adds one more with his blocking techniques- and if you think about it - its sort of like a TE.
Is he blocking or going into the pattern ?
All it takes is a moment of confusion and delay. I'd think Lazard wins his fair share of 50/50 balls too- based on his size and strength.
Defenses won't shade a Safety his way like they did with Adams, but that's OK.
Lazard still has the ability to win in the passing game and is devastating in the run game. Not a traditional WR, but a successful one just the same

Lazard not doing OTAs. Not surprising, but worth making mention of

It might be a CBA thing.
When these guys first come in during offseason, they must to go through a protocol of ramping up before they can hit the field
Or it may be other reasons

also if as you say Lazard will be able to get open, why is it he doesn't? you just showed a clip where he blew by coverage even you or I could have beaten, both the Corner and safety sat flat footed and really didn't make a effort to cover him till he was a yard past them running full speed, when he is accounted for he has to make a contested catch, but imo most of his catches have been uncontested, just like in that clip defenders don't take Lazard seriously and coverage comes into play late.
Rodgers and LaCouch can say anything they want, my impression is he was tagged do to our circumstances, and no one even budged to offer us a 2nd round for him, our room is full of young talent now, I can't picture Lazard repeating his best season with us.

I mean it sounds like virtually no one with more than 2 years in the league except Rashaan Gary is there this week, so I'd guess Lazard just didn't want to do the offseason stuff, waited until the mandatory minicamp was over, and signed before the tender could be reduced. Just a regular degular strategy of skipping offseason work if ya can.BSA wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022 11:25YoHoChecko wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022 11:13Lazard not doing OTAs. I'm not about it, but I'm not about making it a thing, either.
most sensible thing youve said in a while. Dont see how a WR with no more than 515 yards in a season and with an abundance of opportunity can be seen as "good" at the moment. We put the tender on him because we cant afford to lose him at the moment, and honestly he is worth 4m a year. That doesnt mean hes "good", but an average players who does dirty work is certainly worth 4m a year.Yoop wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022 11:56technicality's, we hate technicality'sBSA wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022 11:25YoHoChecko wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022 11:13Lazard not doing OTAs. The good news for Lazard is the stage is set for him to really earn a check this year. I hope he becomes good, and I hope for him that he earns himself a lot of money in 2023. Preferably with another team.
