Finding out in the next two days if I'm moving from Rochester down to Ithaca for work, excited at prospect of moving to a small ivy league college town.

We vacationed around Ithaca last summer. All the falls are just wonderful. Seemed like a quaint college town when we went into Ithaca. I assume housing is absurd.

Was out about 11 hours last Saturday. Went from Mountain, WI to Crooked Lake, to Crivitz, to Silver Cliff, back to Crooked Lake, to Mountain. These pics are from along the Peshtigo River between High Falls and Caldron Falls in Marinette County, WI from Crivitz to Silver Cliff. This part of the river doesn't freeze, but further up on Caldron Falls we got on the resivour (like a lake) for several miles.

Just returned from a 6-day camping trip on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. What a trip!

Was invited by friends to join their Turtleback Trailers “Herd Event”. Turtleback does an event every year where they plan out a trip and lead the “herd” of adventurers to off-the-beaten-path sites that the everyday tourist doesn’t typically get to see.

The wife and I were picked up by friends at the Tucson Airport and we departed immediately from there. Here is a pic of our friend's rig and Turtleback Trailer as we were getting set to head north.

On the way north we included an overnight stop atop Schnebly Hill overlooking Sedona and the Mogollon Rim. A fun (and challenging!) off-road trip climbing over 2k ft and oh what a view!

We broke camp the following morning and made our way back down the hill and completed the trek to the North Rim the following day to a dispersed camping site selected by the Turtleback folks. The base camp selected was at a wooded site far from civilization that took roughly 45 minutes to get to via a trail drive off route 89A that put us within driving range of several spectacular sites for the following days.

The Turtleback guys produced daily videos of our adventures, complete with overhead video from the drone they had along with us.. Here are some from their FB page:

Attached are photos from Point Sublime, Crazy Jug Point, Jump Up Point, and various other sites I either forgot the name or it didn’t have a name but offered an incredible view. Just an amazingly fun trip with the off-road trail riding and visual rewards at every stop. We saw maybe a dozen other tourists outside our group of 15 trail rigs the whole week. Off the beaten path indeed.

Damn APB that looks like a blast.

It was...utterly and in every aspect - trail conquering, sites, people! There were 15 total rigs involved and we all had a great time from sun up -we'd cook communal lunches at each daily site and sit in our lawn chairs enjoying a meal with a spectacular view - until well after sun down as we gathered around the nightly firepits with our cocktails of choice to discuss the day's exploits. The Turtleback folks even provided (optional) nightly discussions on things like trailer deployment, recovery equipment and self recovery tips, radio communications and repeater usage, etc. Just a super fun and informative trip.

Here is a video summary of our stay at the North Rim provided by our Turtleback hosts. They deployed multiple drones from their vehicles as we approached the various sites and controlled them from their rigs. Made for some spectacular video memories!

Was on the hiking trail the other morning and came across this big fella just hangin' out, lying directly across the trail. Dogs were off leash and had already walked right over/past it and the big boy didn't even flinch. By the time I saw it, I nearly sharted myself.

Any guesses on what kind of snake this is?

It's a copperhead, one of the three venomous indigenous snakes in Virginia. A good sized one at that!
