my guess, Rich McGeorge
Spoiler

Is there a award for accurate guessing? lol, Rich was pretty good early in his career.
:lombardi:

I'm obviously too young to have lived through any of those guys, so this is a fun learning experience for me. He has the highest PFR cumulative AV while wearing a Packers jersey with #81.

Subsequently Perry Kemp was #2.

cumulative average for what though :idn: Rich was the longest tenured Packer on that list with 8 years, kinda shows to how little we use TE's, course back in the 70's we probably ran more then we passed since we never had a QB that amounted to much.

for some reason Rich was the first name that popped for me when I saw the picture, lis, it was just a guess

One of the few truly highlight players from his genre of Packers football. He was just soooo smooth.

Body catcher, doesn't have that quick twitch, just a track star, too raw on running routes, doesn't use his hands well enough at the LOS on press, older than Packers would like in the 1st round. I bet he isn't even in the top 3 rounds on the Packers board.

Tony Mandarich was the catalyst to the Bob Harlan hiring of Ron Wolf, and all that has happened since, in that respect the 4.4 milla bucks we paid Tony for those 4 years was a bargain

The Cubbies from Chi took Armstrong, and I remember Mike Dicka saying Armstrong would demolish Mandarich, man I hated Ditka for being right about that

I kind of like that assertion ............. Tony Mandarich was the catalyst to the Bob Harlan hiring of Ron Wolf. Great positive spin on the eventual firing of Lindy Infante and the road to Super Bowl 31. Hey in 1990 our top draft picks were Tony Bennett and Darrell Thompson. Packers got Leroy Butler in the 3rd round at pick 48, and Bryce Paup and Jackie Harris as later 1990 round picks. Got Chris Jacke as a late round 1989 draft pick. 1991 got us nobody (Vinnie Clark, Esera Tuaolo, Don Davey, Chuck Webb ............ :swear:) In 1988 we got Sterling Sharpe and Chuck Cecil. In 1987 we got Majik. In 1986 we got Tim Harris. In 1985 we got Ruettgers, Moran, Stanley, Noble and Stills.

In summary Mike Holmgren had little to work with from the pre-Wolf era other than Ron Hallstrom (Round 1 draft pick in 1982), Majik, Jackie Harris, Ken Ruettgers, Leroy Butler and Sterling Sharpe. Wolf's 1992 draft brought us Terrell Buckley, Robert Brooks, Edgar Bennett, Mark Chmura and Ty Detmer. Wolf's 1993 draft brought us Wayne Simmons, George Teague, Earl Dotson and Doug Evans. In 1994 Wolf's draft brought us Aaron Taylor and Dorsey Levens. The 1995 Ron Wolf draft brought us Craig Newsome, William Henderson, Brian Williams, Antonio Freeman and Adam Timmerman. :beer2:

Summary........don't draft linemen in the first round unless its a Reggie White or Gale Gillingham. Draft wide receivers and linebackers (and QBs if you really see one that you love) in the first round. Exceptions were the Donny Anderson pick in 1966 (he punted too!) and of course the Paul Hornung pick in 1957. Fun Facts: TE Ron Kramer was a Packers first round pick in 1957 as well ............ he was the 4th player picked. Keith Jackson was the 13th player picked in Round 1 of the 1988 draft. So other exceptions were the 1957 Ron Kramer and 1988 Keith Jackson TE picks. Maybe Ron Hallstrom and Aaron Taylor are exceptions too? :dunno:
