Yeah this is the same defense. Solid pass D. Good pass rush. Trash run D.
But why? I can’t even see what the problem is anymore. It’s not a weakness at any specific level. It’s a systemic failure. Sure is $%@# ugly though.

I know he didn’t even play last year, but it looks like this D is missing Z’s passion.

Well there were a couple of trick plays. Something we never do. Teams bring their whole playbook against us but we never do anything creative.

Aaron Jones averaged 4.7 last year. Dillon 4.5.

Jones is more explosive. Dillon really shined late last year in grinding out tough yards.

Both can catch out of the backfield. I'd prefer Dillon for pass blocking.

The D needs Campbell to be "2021" Campbell, not "The rest of his career" Campbell.

Same for Barry really.

6 yards, 3 after contact. That's Dillon.

How many times do we see a team march down the field on their first drive and struggle the rest of day/ night?

Lousy pass by Aaron there.

You cant really judge Dillon on a carry or two. Hes like Derrick Henry, Henry often looks like hes having a bad day at half and then has an enormous stat line by the end of the game. Dillon gets stronger and stronger as the game goes on. He needs to be fed.

Something I said when they didn’t name Z captain last year was that it was stupid because he was the voice of the team. And he acted like a bitch afterwards so did he deserve it? Who knows.

I will say he changed the defensive culture here. They were having more fun. They clearly tried harder. Right now the defense has no voice. Clark, Amos, Campbell, Gary, Smith. All quiet guys who handle there business with their play on the field. Alexander is a mouthy guy with some energy but he’s at the edge of the defense. Someone in the middle needs to be the amplifier for the unspectacular.
