Throwing a spiral helps when it's windy. This could be an issue on really windy days.
Many QBs who have never thrown a spiral in their life made it to the Super Bowl. Jeff George was probably the best spiral thrower of all-time. Nuff said.
Yeah, Joe Kapp and Billy Kilmer were infamous for their wobbly passes.
It's weird looking back with modern eyes to see Kilmer often started over Jurgenson, who threw beautiful spirals.
Yes, I never understood starting Kilmer over Jurgenson. Jurgenson was one of the best passers I have ever seen. Kilmer started out as a RB in the NFL.

Jurgenson had zero ability to escape any pass rush. He was a dead man in the pocket. But he still had a little arm strength.
Kilmer could hardly move much better. But I think he had George Allen’s ear.

thats a real dig, so for some reporter to make it he must have some research to back it up, obviously every pass any QB makes wont be a tight spinner, but deep ball accuracy depends on not being a knuckle ball, and Love has shown that he does have deep ball accuracy, so I'am skeptical of a comment like that.
In college, Love completed 71 of 204 deep throws that travelled at least 20 yards in the air for a completion percentage of 34.8%. If you compare that to other quarterbacks those numbers aren't better than average. In the NFL he has completed two of nine such passes, a way too small sample size to fairly evaluate it.

Question: Do NFL teams still administer a conditioning test prior to players participating in training camp?
I remember it being such a big deal back in the day - Albert Haynesworth still stands out in my memory - but nowadays you don't even hear anything about it. Is it because players come in so much better prepared and it's a non-issue or did the rules/CBA change where they're not even administered anymore?
I guess a conditioning test is included in the physical players have to take before camp. But with them training all year long it isn't an issue for nearly all of them.
