So Love had 8 possessions in the preseason and led 3 TD drives (all TD passes) and a FG drive; no 3& outs it looks like and only one turnover possession on the bad snap by Meyers
The fact that you mentioned about the 3 TD passes stands out to me.

To begin with this year, I have no doubt that Love or almost any other QB can guide an offense in the NFL between the 20s. It’s so common that it almost (I said “almost”) seems that most defenses just give up that part of the field. But moving the ball in the RZ is different. Then, even more, scoring TDs is different on another level.

Many QBs have come and gone with loads of talent that never could reliably engineer a TD drive, especially a TD pass. (Why am I thinking of so many Bears QBs now?) If Love needed to prove something in this preseason, it’s that he can produce TOUCHDOWNS.

Make no mistake, he has done so. But add to it, that the bar gets reset next week and he must do it now in real games.

We don’t really know what will happen yet. But at this exact point in time, he has met expectations.

pass should have been thrown a little further/harder- the wind slowed it down a bit. Better throw = easy TD
Still could have and should have been caught - Watson got both hands on it just before the DBs arrived.

This is the part I disagree with. The DB made a great play punching that ball out. All else equal no receiver is coming down with that, I don't care who they are. I wouldn't attribute that as a drop. There is just no way to come down with that ball.

Not a perfect pass but that is 100% a drop by Watson.

Rack that one up to differing opinions. I also feel that Watson could’ve held on. He had his hands on the ball first. Yeah, it was a good punch by the DB. But a WR with strong hands secures that more than half the time.

Just ask Watson if you can. I’m sure he would say that he should’ve caught it.

So you think all it would take is strong hands? I don't think you realize how impossible it would be to maintain control when a DB is punching up with all their weight and speed. There isn't a receiver ever born that has hands that strong.

Why isn't it simply a good play by the DB and not a drop? Goes down as a PD.

Well, it definitely is both by my definitions. Not all drops are created equal and the defender definitely made a nice play, but when you get 2 hands on the ball, at the high point, you have to pull that straight into your chest and make that play.

That's exactly what Watson did, but the DB punched it out before he could get it to his chest and secure it.

Said when it happened, bad throw, bad catch, good d, in that order. Love’s fault most, Watson 2nd for not making that play, I’ll credit D 3rd.

So what is Watson able to do differently to bring that in?

1st one is top of the catch, 2nd one ball is being punched out.

Playmakers make plays. You think your thoughts, the rest of us will think ours.

As for the wave, it’s been happening for a while on offense. I’ve long said the Packers have some of the most passionate yet stupid fans in the league.

As for the Watson pass, that was one hell of a dog &%$@ pass by Love. Not sure how you underthrow one of the leagues fastest receivers at 6’5. For the catch you simply need to make the play as a WR in todays league. Credit the DB all you want but great WRs snag those. How many times did we see Deandre Hopkins pull balls out of his ass. Jefferson is doing it right now. OBJ used to snatch them off of DBs helmets and he wasn’t even 6’.

At Watsons size he needs to win that IMO.

I thought McGough looked pretty good considering. If he isn't picked up by another team I suspect they'll add him to the practice squad on Wednesday.

The ball was underthown, yes. But, to me, Watson's adjustment to the ball looked awkward and disjointed. He invited the defender to make a play on the ball rather than using body position to shield himself/the ball.

A poor (but wholly catchable) throw but also a drop in my eyes. And sure, a nice play by defender but also a play I'd expect any defender to make given that opportunity.

Always ask yourself "Would Sterling Sharpe have caught it?". Sterling is our gold standard IMO.
