I disagree. You don't replace a 32 year old Rodgers and you don't replace Jaire with a guy and expect to win a playoff game. Jaire will be a Packer for 1 more year, and we had better hope he stays healthy. It is the price a team pays to win and he is not nearly as big a problem as you suppose.
Hold up, I'm lost here. Jaire is 28, and Rodgers was 36 when Love was drafted. Who is 32?

I think it's more than just physical with Ja. It's also the mental circus that comes with him. After a few years, that wears on a team.

It happened with Rodgers. Happened with Favre too. And it's happened with Ja. I love the guy. But it's time for him to find greener pastures elsewhere. The grind from a guy like that breaks up team chemistry more than it helps.

There will always be a point of diminishing returns for guys like this. You can disagree, if you want. That's fine. Reality sinks in either way.

GMs/HCs weigh talent, performance, contract, player locker room presence, health, and other factors. When they are younger, things like that are tolerable for star players. But as they age and Super Bowls are not a realistic possibility any longer, the player becomes more expendable. That type of thing is true in any workplace too. Just try showing up for work with the wrong attitude and see how long you are working there.

Perfect example playing out in front of us this weekend. Shadeur Sanders. He has ability. But he also carries a lot of baggage. 32 teams have thus far decided that he isn't worth a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round pick.

Ja may end up playing with us one more year. There is still a contract in place. But he won't make it beyond that in GB.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

Looking around the weapons in the north we absolutely need Jaire to stay in GB for this season now

Do not put on green glasses and pretend we are a better defense without him

Andy Herman is INSISTENT that he's gone regardless of the draft. But I tend to agree with you. We need to mend this and figure something out because that totally changes the nature of our CB room and depth

It's not about that anymore. He hasn't been healthy or happy. The Packers may play hardball and say he has to stay. But neither side is going to be happy about it. Nobody needs the bad blood poisoning the rest of the lockerroom.

He’s under contract

Pouty Jaire is better than no Jaire at this point. Hel want good tape to go get his next deal or a trade destination he finds desirable after this year. Gute should send him some spotted cow and make nice.

He's been the first to follow and welcome newly signed and drafted Packer players all off-season. Doesn't sound like an unhappy, disgruntled player to me.

Only suggesting the discontent maaaaaay have been overblown....

Yeah Rob Demovsky is obsessed with saying Jaire is one. Otherwise every other signal I have been feeling seems like he will be a Packer.

Curious to see if he shows up for OTAs. My money says no.

I hope they can play nice with each other and put it aside for another year. My preference is he stays because I do think we are better with him.

I'm gonna sit down with him, MLF, Hafley, and Gutey separately. Figure out what needs to happen. And then sit down together with whoever is relevant. And we're gonna make it work. I'm very diplomatic when I choose to be.

Ive been pretty adamant about Jaire been released or traded for almost nothing but I’ve gotta say I’m changing my time. Weird that nothing happened over the weekend. Especially only taking a CB late. I expect to have a CB within the first 4 rounds.

Some weird things still between Jaire acting up. Shutting himself down against the medical staffs advice. The coin toss incident. Nixon saying he’s the teams #1 CB. Krafts comments beings directed at Jaire in rhe locker room clear out interviews.

Everything that’s happened before the draft points to Jaire leaving but everything during and after says he probably comes back. Could just be Gutenbumst just having no plan though as he typically does.

Gutekunst likes to say he’s comfortable with a position group while all offseason everyone knows that position group is a huge problem, then when that position group loses us a game in the playoffs, he loads up on it while another group becomes the problem, rinse and repeat.

That said I predict we will be taking a corner in rounds one and two next draft.

You do remember that we did actually sign a free agent CB, right? And the offseason isn't over. Yes Nixon and Valentine will be the same. But we've got Hobbs now. Perhaps King takes a jump and plays more. Maybe they see something in Dunn, Hayes, and Hadden? I wouldn't count out us signing another free agent, especially if Jaire isn't sticking around.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Before June 1st:
Dead Cap Hit: Approximately $17.0 million.
Cap Savings: Around $7.6 million.
After June 1st:
Dead Cap Hit: Would be spread over the next two years, with a smaller hit in 2025 and a larger one in 2026.
Cap Savings: Approximately $17.1 million.

would seem the second option would be the better one.

Maybe packers should just plan to bring in or trade for veterans like they did X. Seems to be a more reliable path for the current FO.

I can only think of two CBs we drafted in the last 25 years outside of Jaire that turned out to be anything.

1. Mike McKenzie
2. Casey Hayward

Otherwise all of our other competent CBs have been Free Agents or trades.

Al Harris, Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, Sam Shields, Rasul Douglas.

The Packers are just horrible at drafting CB. And I bet you CB is the most spent premium draft capital we have utilized the last 25 years.

So whenever I hear "Packer type" when looking at CB...I know to move on in terms of draft crush because the Packers type is the last type I want.
