There is a fair amount of savings to release Preston, although then we also need to replace that option via fa or draft, we would have no depth whatsoever.
Only $3.3 million savings to release Dean. I’m not sure that makes us better.
Montravious will be a free agent and is making pennies already and I wouldn’t call him a dead beat.
Rashan Gary will replace Preston next year.

Rashan Gary should probably replace Preston this year to be honest.

So here's the deal with details:

Here's the deal with the simple adjustment creating 2021 flexibility:

Here's what I predicted when the roster bonus details were given

(I failed to consider/separate out things like per-game roster bonuses and workout bonuses, which add to the "RB" category in the actual deal)

Those are some big numbers against the cap. Not that we would want to have to do this, but is there an obvious out after a certain amount of time if things don’t work out? I’m not seeing it in those numbers.

YOU DON'T FEEL THE GARVIN?!?
Can we at least have Ramsey and Garvin play over Oren Burks...is that too much of an ask?
Holy sh*t did he play bad in his 5 snaps on Sunday.
I think that tells you all you need to know about Garvin and Ramsey.
The only thing Burks has over those two guys is speed and he's been in the system for 3 years now. And as far as saying " all you need to know about them ' Remember, McCarthy pretty much ignored Aaron Jones in his first 2 years. Sometimes coaches don't know what they have.

Per Spotrac, after the 2022 season it's down to 12M dead cap.

There is a small chance we could lose Jones in FA, but I don't think he'll get anything big.
These are the only teams that could realistically afford Jones.

Jets just made the Bell mistake, have a hard time seeing them doing it. Jaguars could actually make some sense, giving their new QB a solid backfield option, although James Robinson probably their best offensive player right now. Patriots are too smart to give an RB big money.
Colts just drafted Taylor, WFT just drafted Gipson who is playing well, Bengals signed Mixon, Cowboys got Zeke.
So let him get into FA, might almost just come down to outpaying Jacksonville or Miami, if they are even interested. They both need a lot of help elsewhere as well. Keeping in mind guys like Gurley, Kenyon Drake, James Conner, Jamal Williams, Mike Davis, Leonard Fournette all going to be available too and for likely much much cheaper.
I can completely get behind the idea of putting out our fairish, not-insulting offer, and sitting on it, maybe lower it down a hair once FA starts and wait it out. But I like a lot of that lot in FA and a lot of them would be really good fits here.
Man, that's an insane amount of cap space that Jacksonville has. As far as them signing a running back, don't forget they already have Robinson, who looks like a keeper. And a cheap one at that.
I guess we have to see what the Jets are going to do with they're head coach next season. Can't imagine they bring back Gase.
A competent coach who uses running backs could be the biggest challenge to the Packers keeping Jones.

Yes to Jacksonville and Miami as potential Jones destinations.
As for the Bakhtiari, I think we're going to restructure after 2020, as I've mentioned, so the Spotrac numbers are not what we're going to be looking at.
The guarantees basically lock us in for 3 years, I think. 2024 with the $20 million salary is basically a team option. Cut him to save a bundle or keep him if the cap has risen enough to justify paying a LT $30M

I agree with this. 2024 looks like an out to me if we restructure for the 30 million cap hit.
$6 Million in dead cap but saving $27.5 Million makes a lot of sense to me as that is the time we are likely moving onto the new Packer era.
