Guy is huge. Longest arms in my memory of draft prospects. But his athletic testing was terrible.

Undrafted camp body is my guess. Nothing wrong with checking him out. Curious how old is he without caring enough to Google itYoHoChecko wrote: ↑19 Apr 2022 21:17Guy is huge. Longest arms in my memory of draft prospects. But his athletic testing was terrible.
I said I thought the Packers were looking to get bigger and tougher on the Oline. Maybe this is a guy to help get them there.

I do think they’d like to get bigger and a little more bully-ish, but there’s little to no evidence aside from Cole Madison that they’re sacrificing athletic ability to do so
I heard Gute was present at Ohio State's pro day but I don't remember the date.paco wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022 14:31

march 22, I think we also had Olave in for a visit, without looking though I can't be sure, But Gute did go to the pro day, we know he had interest in the top 3 on this list.Pugger wrote: ↑20 Apr 2022 07:16I heard Gute was present at Ohio State's pro day but I don't remember the date.paco wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022 14:31

I think he will end up more of a late 2/early 3 prospect, so I think we will need to go get him. I am 100% on board, though. My favorite of the TE prospects, even if he will take a little work.

could be the best TE OS has produced in forever, they don't feature the TE in there offense, so Ruckert looks like a guy with loads of potential that never got a chance to show case it, seems like a great catch for us, hope he drops to our 3rd round pick.
I want WOODS!! I'd spend one of our 2nd Rounders on him, or trade up from 3 back into 2 to get him.

I am fine with Woods, too. I really like him, but at this point, fully anticipate him being highly over-drafted.

I'm just not so convinced that Woods gets over-drafted. I think he might be there for us at the end of the 3rd. TE draft stock is always sort of crazy. Like NO ONE saw Devin Asiasi and Josiah Deguara as 3rd rounders and TEs 2 and 3 in the 2020 draft.
We all thought Bucky Hodges (2017, 6th round pick) would go 3rd or 4th round because of his elite measurables like Woods (6'7" 257 lbs, 4.57 40) and he went in the 6th round and never turned into a player.
I'm just not so sure the pre-draft measurable process for Woods boosted his stock as much as we may have thought. If he's there in the 3rd, I'd be stoked to take him. If we take him in the second, I suppose I can't complain. If he's still there at 132 or 140, I snatch him right up, but don't feel like he's necessarily a steal at that value. TE grades are weird, varied, and unpredictable.

I know there is some volatility from year to year, but I'll run that card in at the end of the 3rd. I bet he and McBride are solid 2nd-rounders and I just don't love that value.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑20 Apr 2022 13:43I'm just not so convinced that Woods gets over-drafted. I like him as early as Late 2, but definitely not a guy I will make a panic move to secure, least of all in a TE class like this. I agree with YoHo, don't see him going that early even with the impressive athletic numbers because he has still got a lot to learn at the position.
Works for us, because Lewis, Tonyan, and Deguara will all be solidly ahead of him this year. Next year, the first two are likely gone, and Deguara is more of an H-back type so we will need a Y. So I love the idea of grooming a guy with Woods's traits for that role. I won't be real broken up if we miss out, though.

I mean if he turns out really good, with his ceiling, I could care less if they take him at 28.
Wouldn't you be freaking excited if we took him at 28, with his athletic profile, with out FO thinking he was also that good of a football player?

No. I would never be excited with a TE in the first.

Meh. 2nd of two and at 28 in a year we really need pass catchers of all shapes and sizes.
I would be completely okay with it.
