Josh Jacobs stats via Jason Wilde
Super impressive start to his GB career
"Entering Sunday’s back-from-the-bye matchup on the road against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, Jacobs ranks 4th in the NFL in rushing yards (762), 7th in carries (158), 8th in yards per attempt among backs with at least 100 carries (4.8) and 9th in first downs (34).
More importantly, he’s 2nd in the league in rushing yards after contact (423). Only Baltimore’s Derrick Henry — the NFL leader in yards, attempts, per-carry average and first downs — has more yards after contact (514) than Jacobs"

As disappointed as I was to see Aaron Jones leave, Jacobs was an upgrade. He just brings a level of toughness and, dare I say, grit that Jones just didn't have.
I think Jacobs will really begin show his worth as the season moves into the colder weather, ground-and-pound type games. He's built for this type of environment. He's only going to get better.
Now it's just a matter of MLF using him...
Agreed. Jones is a killer in the postseason but also an inconsistent killer. Meaning he will have a game where he takes over and another game where he completely disappears (usually vs tough and physical defenses).APB wrote: ↑13 Nov 2024 07:37I'll say it again.BSA wrote: ↑12 Nov 2024 21:30.

I have more faith that Jacobs will have higher floors in the playoffs compared to Aaron Jones and that may be the prescription the doctor ordered for the Packers.
Josh Jacobs is # 7 in the entire league in rushing attempts this season.

The Packers are # 5 in rushing attempts in 2024

Seems like MLF is using him just fine

He's starting to show signs of wear. Because of Love's injury, we've probably relied more on the run than in prior years with Jones. Maybe a bit more platooning is needed to keep Jacobs fresh. We still have a long way to go to season end, plus the playoffs.BSA wrote: ↑13 Nov 2024 11:49Josh Jacobs is # 7 in the entire league in rushing attempts this season.

my hope is that Love is healthy, and we use more play action and misdirection runs, as well as getting this OL healthy and sorted out, to many mis cues and penalties.
Jacobs being 2nd with YAC tells me two things, blocking hasn't been good, and he's taking a beating, not the type of stats that promote longivity
Yes, I concur.BSA wrote: ↑13 Nov 2024 11:49Josh Jacobs is # 7 in the entire league in rushing attempts this season.

My comment was more tongue-in-cheek directed at a vocal minority who insist Jacobs is NOT being used to our greatest benefit. I'll leave it to @lupedafiasco and Co. to define what exactly that looks like.

Mr. Yoop - let me add a little illumination for ya
YAC isn't a measure of the OL's success. YBC is what you're looking for there, yards before first contact tells you how well the holes are being opened. Yards After Contact ( YAC ) is a measure of how well Jacobs breaks tackles, makes guys miss, falls forward etc and is a direct reflection of the stoutness of the RB and his ability to get the most out of what's blocked. He's one of the best in the league in that realm
Additionally, you cannot suggest the Packers OL isn't blocking well when GB is top 5 in rushing yards and top 5 in rushing attempts per game as I noted and linked above.
All of this info is free & easily accessible.
Here's a link to team rankings ( player rankings too) , they have a plethora of interesting offensive and defensive categories to look up and learn from with not much effort. ( approx. 47 seconds and 9 calories burned to read/understand the info)
Happy Reading

we are 20th in the league for RBWR, with a YBC of 1.29 yrds, so that doesn't seem like good run blocking my friend actually I think it's a testament of our RB's to have so much higher YAC, as you said breaking tackles , plus the more ya run the better the run blocking seems to become, still our boys are getting most of there yards after first contact.
plus we have to accept at least some of what we see, which is A gap designated runs bounced out because those gaps were stuffed
personally, I think we need to improve Run blocking, we do pretty well in pass pro, attested to with Love ranking 3rd facing 5 man rush packages, seems opposing DC know we typically stone wall just 4, another sign of efficient pass pro.
I use to think giving the feature RB 20 touches a game was about right, but now I think it just prematurely wears the guy down and they are less effective late season, so platooning seems more productive over all, jmo.

I believe Jacobs needs to be getting carries in the high teens at a minimum every game. He has 2 games with more than 20 but 4 games with less than 15.APB wrote: ↑13 Nov 2024 12:55Yes, I concur.BSA wrote: ↑13 Nov 2024 11:49Josh Jacobs is # 7 in the entire league in rushing attempts this season.

It shouldn’t be a surprise the 3 games we lost he had just 16, 9, and 13. I also think his usage numbers are skewed because he’s got a game with 32 carries. Outside of that game he’s getting just under 16 carries a game. That’s not good enough to me.
The other thing is usage. I’ve seen now a few times on key downs we have him off the field. One specifically from last week was when we had Brooks in for a pass instead of Jacobs and he drops it. Gotta have Jacobs in the game there.

Until LLoyd comes back, the only RB's that should be on the field are Jacobs and Wilson. This is not the pre-season.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑13 Nov 2024 17:58I believe Jacobs needs to be getting carries in the high teens at a minimum every game. I was at that game where Favre threw to Jennings. From the stands, it felt like it took FOREVER to land in GJ's hands. The entire stadium was stunned, even the Packer fans aplenty. Total shock. Took a moment for the stadium/fans to realize what just happened. Some weren't even back yet from getting snacks/drinks/restrooms. hahaha.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!
I too was at that game. 16 years old. That ball just hung in the high Denver air. You could easily see Jennings was going to run under it. I actually fell about 5 rows because I jumped so much.Scott4Pack wrote: ↑14 Nov 2024 17:28

Quite possibly some of the best 15 seconds of elation in my life. To see that live caught right in front of me....2007 was such a special year. I saw three iconic games that year.

It truly was. I was at the Metrodome for the record breaker and the playoff game against the Seahawks. I also went to the most fun preseason game I had ever been at, also against the Seahawks.
What kind of upside down world were we living in where we go 13-3 but lose twice to the Bears?
Read More. Post Less.
It was so upside down that the defense actually got mad at Ryan Grant for scoring a TD in Chicago because they all just wanted to go hom.NCF wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024 08:52It truly was. Al Harris actually yelled at Grant after his TD run.

Marshawn Lloyd having his appendix removed today. I heard the Packers were talking to the NFL since his 21 day window has already opened.

Some bye week revelations via Jason Wilde:
"LaFleur said the team’s bye-week analysis showed that the Packers have committed an astonishing 18 offensive penalties inside the red zone, making that sloppiness the No. 1 factor in the unit’s failings down there."
Added offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich: “For us, it's just staying out of negative plays. You look at the drives where we don't have penalties or aren’t making negative plays, we're excellent in the red zone. If we do have negative plays, we've got to make sure we overcome those. And that's been our Achilles’ heel this year.”
