Regarding Zimmer's decision to go for the kill shot, I have no problem with it. As Yoho said, it was a decision to completely eliminate the Wilson miracle effect. In that circumstance with that field position and distance, I make that call 10 of 10 times.

What I will blame him for, tho, is the play call. They were mere inches from a first down. QB sneak that all the way.
Yeah. I don't understand why you would take the football backwards when you literally have to reach your hand out and you have a first down easy.

It's basically impossible to stop a QB sneak when it's less than a foot to go.

If Zimmer had not gone for 2 and failed earlier in the game, that 4th down at the end of the game field goal would have been to go up 9.

Dont chase points early, take what you can and put it on the score board.

Mattison was getting 5.6 yards a carry and has one negative play the whole game. Hindsight is always 20/20. Had Mattison went right instead of left we wouldn't be having this conversation. My question is would Cook have gone right of the full-back.

I would guess so just bc his vision is probably better.

Not about hindsight. A QB sneak is your best option when you only need inches. You look for the alignment crease at the snap and go get it. It makes the question you've posted multiple times irrelevant.

If you watch the play, the entire center of the Vikings line was pushed back a yard on the play. Of course, had the called the QB sneak, I'm not sure it would have worked. But then, different play call, different blocking.

Based on that cam view, you just receive the snap and go 6 inches forward. Not left or right. Just take the ball at the snap and place it right over the centers head and push straight forward.

That second pic you posted illustrates to me why you wouldn’t want to go hand the ball off. Takes so much time to hand the ball off yards behind the LOS, when 6 inches forward is all you need.

Earn your money and get 6inches Kirk.

That's a tough decision
The vikes ran a successful sneak just a few minutes earlier in the 4th quarter, so the Seattle D had already seen it
You can see from the still shots that they have their DL sitting square in those A gaps. If you watch the video, the Seahawks DL really pushes the LOS backwards. Going over the Center might have worked, but the footwork is tricky because the Center is getting pushed back and that can take the feet out from under the QB. Especially on a rainy night. On the road. In prime time. Betting on Kirk Cousins

I honestly don't get why this is such a thing. Both decisions had a high probability of success. Both decisions make sense from a non-mathematical point of view: "I think if Russ gets the ball, he's going to score, so we should take the points and force the 2-point or overtime" AND "I think if Russ gets the ball, he's going to score, so we should try to keep the ball out of his hands unless we can extend to a 2-score lead."

And everything worked. They had no one unblocked. There was a hole. The play call, thus, fit with the defense they were facing. They just didn't get it done. The FB could have blocked better and/or Mattison could have taken it outside the FB and found enough of a hole.

There's no reason to view this call as any sort of indictment of anyone. It was a high-percentage situation and it didn't work out. That doesn't make anyone dumb.

Rumors going around Jets want to trade Bell already, no more guaranteed money and only $6 million base salary left.

Did a quick look through the teams who could use him, doing well, and have at least the 2020 cap space (no one has 2021 cap space), but the Bears definitely top that list.

Sound like it wouldn't take much to get it done, I feel like they have to try something on O to liven them up, surprising signing 'ol cement shoes Jimmy didn't make their offense more explosive.

But the Bears get that ground game going again and have the lethal check-down option in Bell, take a ton of pressure off the QB's and with that D, they would definitely look a lot scarier.

Anything else these guys want to whine about?

Peter King was saying on mad dog that the saints feel they have been put a bigger disadvantage than others without a crowd in their dome and they want to move to Baton Rouge for the year.

I have always wondered if they sucked without their dome. I at least now know they don’t have the mental toughness to overcome an unfortunate situation without whining.

Don’t pay turds or RB only’s.

Not that Bell was RB only, but that was just a disaster situation.

Looking at the first 3 years of pay, I’d give Jones Dalvin Cook’s contract in a heartbeat for the dual threat.
