It sounds like Woody's brother, Chris, is the one with a good head on his shoulders. It's too bad that he was overshadowed when Woody returned from the UK. He had the team on the right track IMO.
I remember some of those plays, so it's easy to recognize. But man, AR and J Love sure can look similar on many plays...

Pretty impressive results from the NFC North this year
Right now our division has racked up 40 total wins, NFC South has only 25, AFC South only 22
The Lions, Vikings, and Packers are 36-4 against all teams not named Lions, Vikings or Packers
I also want to put it out there because I've heard this...
YES, the NFC North has a schedule that includes the AFC South and NFC West both of which are having down years.
Right now, the Packers, Vikings, and Lions are a combined 12-0 against the AFC South and 10-1 against the NFC West (1 game remaining, Detroit-49ers)
So it could be said that we are racking up wins against these lightweight divisions.
But the AFC East also plays those two divisions. And the Bills, a Super Bowl Hopeful, are 3-1 against the AFC South and 3-1 against the NFC West--more losses against those two divisions that the Packers, Lions, and Vikings combined.
Further, the Dolphins, who are a great depiction of a mediocre, middle of the pack, borderline playoff team... are 1-3 versus the NFC South and 2-2 against the NFC West. The Bills and Dolphins are a combined 9-7 against those two divisions. So yeah, any given Sunday; you gotta play who you have scheduled. And the level of dominance the NFC North has shown (aside from the Bears) is NOT simply a schedule quirk. It's legit.
MORE: Even including the Bears, the NFC North is 25-5 against those two divisions (2 games to go).
Even EXCLUDING the Patriots, the AFC East is 12-12 against those divisions. More than twice as many losses despite only counting 3 of their teams.

There is a big thing with Math too that people overlook.
Yes the NFC North is dominating because they are playing a "down" AFC South and NFC West.
But it could also be true that the AFC South and NFC West look significantly worse because they have to play the NFC North which is about 3 - 4 losses automatically for each of those teams respectively. Like the Rams and Seahawks might look significantly better if they didn't have to play the Lions, Vikings and Packers.

It sure would be weird to beat a guy who has a street named after him twice a year.
I think MM is a solid, steadfast head coach, fine developer of QBs, and a real good man, but my hot take is that he'd be the 4th best offensive coach in the NFC North division. It's just a glut of such good offensive innovators, that MM would struggle to compete.

McCarthy isn't the same coach he was with us, he's reinvented himself, with us the run schemes were limited almost to left or right of center to keep lbers in the box, and vertical passing attack, basically, we were a 1-dimensional offense for most of Mikes tenure with us, forgivable in light of having the best passer in the league.
with Dallas that had to change, and it did, a lot more dependence on the run and a dialed back passing scheme, Mike became a more rounded coach.
who can say for sure how well McCarthy would do in Chicago, he may not want to go there because he would be coaching against us more personally I hope he declines, goes elsewhere, or just stays in Dallas.

I do agree MM reinvented himself somewhat with Dallas, and hat off to him for that. I think the time off and switching teams did him good, he looked kinda....maybe not quite burnt out, but low energy at the end of his tenure here. He tried to tinker with minor scheme adjustments every season, but nothing like the burst of innovation LaFleur brought immediately (even when trying to accommodate to AR's wishes).
Da Bears do still suck, but theoretically aren't THAT far off offensively. They need a major overhaul of their OL, and that's no easy feat in one off-season, even with ample cap space. Caleb needs plenty of development if he's ever gonna be able to read the field like a top QB, and he'll never learn that if the OL is a sieve.
As a HC candidate, I'd be wary of the lack of stability in Chicago, and the level of competition in NFC North. Early success may be hard to come by, with at least the Packers and the Lions looking poised to be great in near future, the Vikes maybe also depending on their QB solution. Poles' seat is already warming up, even tho he seems to have hit on his QB. And if the GM goes, that usually puts the HC in a hot seat as well. I kinda wish MM goes elsewhere or stays put, for his sake...

MM hasn't changed his spots. He's a good coach not a great one. Give him a good roster and he's fine. He's not going to get anything more out of duh bares unless they hit on a lot of picks. He's not going to hurt Williams development but if Williams becomes great it will be mostly on getting him an OL so he can survive a few years. I think the bears are going to have better candidates and if they take MM, it is because he is a shut up and soldier kind of guy. He took what TT gave him, he took what Jerr gave him, and he'd stay in that lane at Halas Hall. But he'd be walking back into a pretty innovative hive of hornets nests that is the new North. Like Sal I think he's going to be out coached by the younger guns in the division. So please bring him in!
