These guys are all friends, very close friends. They've been talking football and strategy with each other for the past 20 years. I think they have an understanding of each other. I don't think any trade secrets were given away they didn't already know.
A couple 3rd rounders for 3 years of work. Not a bad incentive. Heck I might name all minorities on my team and let them take the credit just for the draft picks. Not that i'm implying Glenn wasn't worthy, that guy was probably the most important coach they had and I think he'll be more successful than the OC will be.

The Packers giving SF back it's R2 pick was more about the trade of Tim Harris to the 49ers while Wolf hid a drug charge Harris had with Brown County than any comp pick issue with signing Holmgren. Sure, Policy was mad about the Packers poaching Holmgren after the 9ers gave him a big signing bonus as part of his extension but the league was firmly on the side of the Packers in that Holmgren was fair game as far as hiring as a HC.

that's how I read it too, and they are at the end of the 3rd round for 2 consecutive drafts, that article explains it well

Wolf would never screw up a situation so badly. That was the previous regime. Wolf was hired in November 1991 after Harris had already been dealt.

Yeah, you're correct. Wolf came on board a few months after Tom Braatz made the Harris deal.

Looks like dumping the GM was the only way to get Bucs OC Liam Coen. Coen had negotiated a large extension but had not signed yet with the Bucs, but is taking the HC of the Jags. One day after Baalke was canned.

Yeah, you're correct. Wolf came on board a few months after Tom Braatz made the Harris deal.

For those of you who haven’t been paying attention, the 49ers have already received 4 3rd round picks, 2 each for Mike McDaniels and Robert Saleh, respectively. That’s like 4 Rasul Douglas trades, without giving up Rasul Douglas.

I think DEI has worked well in coaching ranks because of these incentives, but it still lags behind with FO hires, all except with NE, who just broke the Rooney rule it was reported
