QB carousel is real this year.
Goff, Stafford and Wentz all on the move. All #1 or #2 picks.

And pretty low risk for the Colts. Give up a couple of nice picks, but they can dump him at any point with minimal dead cap, right? Philly takes the hit. Indy pretty much pay as you go.

I'm glad we finally know where the 4-11 Philly Eagles back up QB is going.

Well that’s a shame. There goes any trade value that Love was worth.

Absolute steal.

Wentz has the 29th best QB Rating over the last 3 seasons among QBs with 300+ attempts. 31st in completion %. 33rd in yards/attempt.
We shall see how good he is, but the last 3 seasons haven't been.

Yeah, I think Wentz is broken, but he went to the one place where he could credibly turn things around. I actually hope he does, he looked real good in the past, and Indy is not a team that I would mind benefitting.

That said, I like the fit in Indy, Wentz gunna be pretty cheap for a vet QB, not giving up their 1st or 2nd, bunch of cap room.
They are already really good, quite good on O around QB, and have the capital to get even better.

And even for the Eagles. Not the end of the world. You were gonna suck in 2021 anyways. Take the dead cap. You will find out if you have a player in Hurts. You draft early this year. You will likely draft early next year and you will have good cap space in 2022.
This is why I'm not afraid of having a lot of "dead cap" on Rodgers in 2023. Because when you decide to move on with a new QB...you likely aren't a SB threat anyways. So take your lump that year and start using it to build your roster for your next run.

Yet you are then resigning yourself to that even though it may not be true.

Yeah. I'm okay with that. We don't win when our roster is supposed to win.
So I'm not really in that "we still got a shot!" crowd.
Even 2010. Dead cap or no dead cap.... that wouldn't have made a difference that year either.

I think our cap will be tighter once Rodgers is done then it is now, even with TV revenue, and if Gute does what he says he will (push cap to sign and keep this team together) that bill will come do about then to, plus that will be Loves first year, nah I sure don't see us SB bound

Dead cap may have made a difference in 2010. We may have not been able to resign Ryan Pickett or Tramon Williams or even Aaron Rodgers! Or not be able to sign Howard Green.
All had a big impact on our SB win!

I think the Colts got fleeced. Wentz had made it known he wanted Indy and nowhere else. Eagles would have ended up releasing him. Bears pulled back after hearing he didn't want to play there.

Yeah. Good points.
But I also think 2010 is a horrible example I provided because again....we were in the roster ascension mode at that time.
Maybe 2008 would have been a better example. Wouldn't really matter if we had dead cap that we had to eat in 2008. In fact, I am pretty sure we did have to eat some Favre dead cap. And we used 2008 as a catapult to start building our 2009 - 2011 roster. And it was awesome.

Roster ascension or decline is usually only a hindsight thing. See 2020 for latest example. Personally, I can't see we will for sure be in roster decline in 2023 or 2024.

Mahomes likely to be the only QB taken in the first round, 2009-2017, who is going to play on their drafted teams.
With Biscky and Watson moving on.
Mahomes, Biscky and Watson all would be eligible for 5th year option this year.
Matt Ryan was drafted in 2008.
That is $%@# nuts.
I support zero initiative to replace Aaron Rodgers before his arm literally can no longer throw.

Russell "Magic Water" Wilson trade talk is heating up. Hope he goes someplace where he gets sacked as much or more.

I mean look, I don't know who you're talking about but I spent last offseason adamant that we had a better roster in 2020 than in 2019. Made some pretty detailed posts about it. Hindsight is for the weak

Wilson is right in his case to complain about the offensive line. The Seahawks have done an awful job trying to protect him. And it’s not like they haven’t tried because they did draft OL early but the lot of them were some really bad picks. Schneider came out hot nailing his picks but recently they’ve been horrible. James Carpenter. Germaine Ifedi. Horrible picks and all reaches IMO.
If Wilson wasn’t an athletic QB he would be the most sacked QB in the league. That man runs a marathon for his life every week avoiding the instasheds his lineman give up.
